the way this mediocre athlete has been lionized is unbelievable. she is, among other things, way over the hill, like the famous cricketers sachin, ganguly et al. but i remember how when she won something not so important a while ago, she was given an arjuna award, her husband/coach bobby george was given a drona award, and her grandfather was given a bhishma award. this sort of extra-generous treatment is only because... well, no prizes for guessing why.

Hmm i think ur bit harsh on her (:- but having said that 3 foul jumps so bit too much as well the lest she could have done jumped her best but then overnite miracles dont happen in indian sports

Having done few jumps in my day, it is common to have atleast one legal jump in first or second jumps and go all out on the last.. three jumps is really pathetic for a professional. I read somewhere that she might have injured her ankle during her practice may be that could be a reason
Well, she may have been unsuccessful in this event. But, nowadays the athletes have to qualify for the Olympics - it's not that the GOI can send any minority community or even majority community member at its will.. So, she must have qualified per the norms of IOC.. That raises another question..If other Indian athletes can not beat a "has been"/"over the hill" like her to get into the olympics how would they compete with athletes from Russia, USA or Jamaica? And as she must have qualified to take part in the Olympics it's not correct to rubbish her.. May be we should ask why is it that 18 year old girls are not coming up who can displace her..

How can Sunny thomas be the coach of Bhindra while it is a german woman. The Govt has announced 5 lakh rupees for him as well.
