Trafficked Maids To Order

As more Indian women go out to work, the voracious demand for maids has outstripped supply. This is fuelling a business that, in large part, thrives on human trafficking by unregulated placement agencies.

With a commission fee of up to 30,000 rupees and a maids' monthly salary of up to 5,000 rupees, an agency can make more than $1,500 annually for each girl, say anti-trafficking groups.

Jairam Ramesh's building priorities

http://m.timesofindia.com/india/Rameshs-toilet-temple-remarks-draw-BJP-flak/articleshow/16704670.cms

Why does the Nehruvian Stalinist have to pick on Hindu Temples? A recent survey that I read delineated the number of religious places in India by faith.
Hindu Temples were outnumbered - both by Christist churches and Islamic mosques.

Would the minister dare to apply his derivation to those places of worship?

Actually, toilets *are* important and open defecation is a blot on the country. Nehruvian Stalinist policies alone are to blame, if Indian citizens have no recourse
but open defecation - 65 years after achieving "freedom".

Kaangress thugs have ruled India for close to 55 of those 65 years and indulged in wanton
"defecation" by littering the length and breadth of the country with memorials to members of the Nehru-Ghandi family. I suggest that the honourable minister launch an initiative, in the interest of public hygiene - to reclaim all these public places from the adverse possession of Nehru- Ghandi IDOLS - for the construction of modern amenities, Shauchalayas - for defecation in private. India is a land deficient country - with one seventh the land area of the USA and four times the population. We can ill afford this encroachment of our public spaces for hideous mausoleums to the Nehru family!

Correlation Between Riots and Price of Food

A new study has shown that the likelihood of riots is greatly increased during times of high food prices. That's probably a no-brainer, but it's useful to see a formal correlation based on data.

Khoslanomics and Social Arbitrage

Jason Saul of Forbes describes Vinod Khosla as a “social arbitrageur” - someone who wants to use market forces to alleviate social problems like poverty. It's even claimed that Khosla's approach could outperform charitable NGO's, something which could see these socially parasitic lobbies shown the door.

US Doctor Offers 'Designer Babies'

A US doctor is offering prospective couples genetic testing services which could lead to 'designer babies'. As we all know, all kinds of genes can be test for these days. With the spread in India of gender-selective abortions and female infanticide, can the Pandora's Box be opened even further, with all kinds of other genetic testing?

More TV Means Less Sex, Says Indian Minister

India's new health and welfare minister is claiming that providing more TV will result in less sex and a lower birthrate
At 80-plus years old Omar Mohammed has never heard of population control.

He lives in India's most populous state Uttar Pradesh and has certainly done his part in contributing to India's burgeoning population.

"Now you see I have 24 children, 13 boys and 11 girls," Omar says.

Omar believes only God can decide how many children you should have. He lifts his hands to the sky and says: "This is His command. It's not my doing, it's His doing."

Keep breeding for the Ummah, Omar. The Kaangress will reward you for growing their vote bank.

Hillary Visits India

Here's a pathetic but unsurprising anecdote from Hillary's visit to India:
Inevitably, some of these encounters are more successful than others. In the category of less successful was a panel discussion on Saturday afternoon on education at a Jesuit college, at which Mrs. Clinton appeared with Aamir Khan, a prominent Indian film star who advocates for better teaching.

While Mrs. Clinton offered an earnest discussion of teaching standards in Arkansas, Mr. Khan appeared to condone dropping out of school to pursue entertainment careers.
Yet again, Amir Khan shows that he's pretty brainless in all ways. That's what to expect from morons born with silver spoons in their mouths. I think it's good for such moments to be captured on camera, and then played back endlessly to remind everyone what fools like him are all about.

UPA's stellar record on increasing poverty

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/world-bank-paints-a-bleak-picture-of-india/458110/

According to the World Bank's poverty forecast, China had 60.2 per cent of its population living on less than USD 1.25 a day in 1990, compared to India's 51.3 per cent.

However, 15 years later in 2005, China had 15.9 per cent of its population living in extreme poverty as compared to India's 41.6 per cent living on less than USD 1.25 a day, the international poverty line.

"Much of decline in global poverty between 1990 and 2005 results from increased incomes in China, where the level of extreme poverty fell from over 60 per cent in 1990 to less than 16 per cent in 2005," the report said.

Yes sir, development with a human face.
