His idiotic book actually contained perverted material that was explicitly offensive to religious Hindus, whereas any imagined insult to Islam needed to be excavated and interpreted

Shameful incidents like these keep occurring with sickening regularity. There was an incident about 2 months ago when a 12 year old Dalit girl child was gang raped and murdered.

This is a wake up call for dormant Hindus, reminds me of the protagonist of the movie

India's first Comicbook Industry Convention was held in Delhi, with a total attendance of 16,000 - not a bad start. At least it will allow India to showcase its own indigenous talent alongside all the established international superheroes. Hopefully local events like these will allow India's comicbook industry to regain lost footing.

There's a new racing game coming out, called "Streets of Mumbai":



The game's developer Trinegames also has other titles in the works, like Legends of Great India:

Some narrow-minded people will no doubt protest these delightful new products from Indian mythology, but I think they'll re-acquaint and re-popularize such mythological tales with the young masses.

Let us remember the amazing tale of the Rajivayana.

Indian Science Fiction Short Story Contest

An Indian Science Fiction Short Story Contest has been announced, with September 30, 2007 as the deadline for submissions. Entries must be less than 6000 words. Yes, there's a prize as well.
The deadline isn't far off, but I figure that with all the hot air we commentators put out, 6000 words should be a piece of cake. ;)

Indian Science Fiction

I came across an site for Indian science fiction submissions on the web. They had some pretty interesting stories. Check them out -- they have about a few pages' worth. Some of them are witty and humourous, while others are intended to be chilling or thought-provoking. It's nice to see what Indian minds can come up with in the way of creative fiction, especially when it's painted on the very flexible canvas of sci-fi. Fortunately, with many Indians being strong in english-language expression as well as technically inclined, I would imagine that sci-fi would be an area of pop fiction in which Indians could distinguish themselves.

If anybody knows of any similar such sites, I'd appreciate hearing about them.
