Quick notes: Neglected ally | Cow abuse...

  • America returns to its neglected ally: For destabilising Iran, America needs land access. This is how the Pakistanis were used during the Afghan wars, targeting the Russians.

From Iran's nuclear programme to Afghanistan's lithium reserves, Pakistan's unique positioning at the crossroads of America's most pressing strategic concerns has transformed it from a neglected ally into an indispensable partner
    . . . After 25+ years of progress, India-US ties take a U-turn, history repeats

  • "The U.S. is not an ally of India": "The U.S. is absolutely uninterested in India based supply chains. Trump is uninterested in that. He is incapable of long-term strategic relations and any of that. India should not presume that the U.S. will do great favors to India. Thats is not going to happen". . . . listen to him, India. Stop being naive.

  • Trump Wants Big Pie Of India's Economy: They want their companies like Amazon to have more facilities for operations. They want unlimited data flow for Google. So, it is beyond tariff, it is beyond trade. The US wants a big pie of the domestic economy.

  • Experts warn Trump: Caving on Nvidia H20 export curbs may disrupt his bigger trade war

  • Blessed to have engineers at the helm: China is developing nation-spanning network to sell surplus data center compute power

  • Cow abuse: Coca-Cola under fire after undercover investigation reveals disturbing scenes at farm: 'A habitual offender'. Investigators also recorded pregnant and sick cows being whipped, punched, kicked, and beaten with metal objects, including shovels, wrenches, and pipes. The abuse was carried out by various staff, including owners, managers, and ranch hands. . . . blacklist Coke!

  • #DeleteFacebook: Chinese censorship goes global: Facebook agrees to delete Coronavirus posts flagged by China. . . . . Banned in China but FB ever willing to please the CCP.

  • Only Muslims can be victims: “Christians in Pakistan live with this sword of Damocles over their head.”  'To death!' cried one woman prisoner. The other women join in. 'Hanged!' Hanged!'.”

Quick notes: Chinese RISC-V | Hazardous waste...

  • China's Semiconductor Push: Alibaba unveils Open Source RISC-V CPU.... RISC-V is open source, so it's much more resistant to government bans. The Chinese govt has been encouraging wealthy Chinese companies from various industries to enter the semiconductor industry in recent years. The govt forced foreign companies to transfer their technology and IP to Chinese companies if they wanted any chance at the local Chinese market.

  • UK hazardous waste offloaded to India: A Sri Lankan investigation into nearly 3,000 tonnes of illegally imported waste has shown that some of it were sent on to India. The waste had been mislabelled and imported as used mattresses, but contained bio and clinical waste.

  • Windfall for Abhahamics: Andhra Pradesh govt proposes to pay monthly salaries to Christian Pastors, Muslim Imams, and Mouzzans. A total of 948.72 crores is allocated for this scheme for the year 2019. On the other hand, Hindu pujaris/pundits don’t find any mention in this scheme.

  • Raw chicken moves off restaurant plate: The process of rigor mortis could last up to three to four days after death. It is possible that the nerve endings of the animal had not died yet.

  • Animal abuse: "If atrocities committed to farm animals happened to cats or dogs, the abusers will be in prison".

  • Sinister tech: Huawei secretly helped North Korea build, maintain wireless network.

  • Why America Can't Trust Pakistan: Khan seeks to continue a pattern of duplicity, the cost of which can be counted in billions of dollars of wasted aid, Chinese backslapping, and American body bags.

Quick notes: Koh-i-noor, Costly comment...

  • Queen may face legal challenge: A lobby group headed by businessman David de Souza is mounting a legal challenge against Queen Elizabeth II demanding the return of the world famous Koh-i-noor diamond to India. The last Sikh ruler, Duleep Singh, a 13-year-old boy, was made to travel to Britain in 1850 when he handed the gem to Queen Victoria.

Quick notes: Cow protection, Antibiotics problem..

  • Muslim spreads message of cow protection: "Cow is not the mother Hindus only, but, as Veda says, She is the mother of all (Vishwa Mata)," said the 34-year-old preacher, who has so far delivered about 200 lectures on cow's importance in schools and other institutions

  • The Antibiotics Problem in Meat: Approximately 95 percent “of adults in India carry bacteria resistant to β-lactam antimicrobials.”

  • The Myth of High-Protein Diets: Low-carb, high-animal-protein diets promote heart disease via mechanisms other than just their effects on cholesterol levels. Animal protein increases IGF-1, an insulin-like growth hormone, and chronic inflammation, an underlying factor in many chronic diseases. Also, red meat is high in Neu5Gc, a tumor-forming sugar that is linked to chronic inflammation and an increased risk of cancer.

Quick notes: Mounted gun, America's JNU...

  • Mounted gun purchase: Indian Army’s shortage of heavy artillery told heavily on its firepower during the Kargil war. Fifteen years later, the army has not been able to add a single big gun due to non-competitive single-vendor situations because of the blacklisting of foreign companies after allegations of malpractice.

Quick notes: Pink revolution, Small EVs...

  • Money from slaughter trade goes into killing us: India is killing more animals than ever to feed Bangladesh and the Middle East.

  • Steve J restricted kids' gadgets usage: “So, your kids must love the iPad?” I asked Mr. Jobs, trying to change the subject. The company’s first tablet was just hitting the shelves. “They haven’t used it,” he told me. “We limit how much technology our kids use at home.” I’m sure I responded with a gasp and dumbfounded silence. I had imagined the Jobs’s household was like a nerd’s paradise: that the walls were giant touch screens, the dining table was made from tiles of iPads and that iPods were handed out to guests like chocolates on a pillow. Nope, Mr. Jobs told me, not even close.

  • Toyota's New Transit Idea: Not only do these small EVs make more sense than a full-sized gas-guzzling car for the lone commuter, the new system also helps make the idea of car-sharing more convenient and palatable.

Toxic milk and plastic cows

With garbage and food spilling out either on the road or dustbins in plastic bags, cows end up eating food leftovers along with the plastic. Over time, a huge amount of plastic accumulates inside their stomachs, hard like cement.

The suction machines tend to take more milk out of the cows than what they would yield naturally. And they are often kept on even when udders have become dry, causing acute pain.

Most cows are unlawfully injected with hormone oxytocin to make them give more milk.  Oxytocin keeps their bodies in perpetual condition of labour, with repeated uterine contractions, destroying their reproductive systems and making them bone thin and eventually sterile.

Swine flu scores again in Kashmir

Unfortunately, Mufti Saheb's fatwa applies only to singing by teenage girls.

http://m.rediff.com/news/report/kashmiri-rocker-mufti-said-it-was-un-islamic-so-we-quit/20130205.htm

Now, it would be truly ironic if the Mufti were to be diagnosed with a strand of swine flu!

"Swine flu claimed yet another life in Kashmir valley bringing the toll to four since December 2012, according to sources in the state’s premier Institute of Medical Sciences."

Beef's Own Country

Kerala consumes 5,035 tonnes of meat every day. Eighty per cent of state’s population and residents are meat eaters and Kerala produces only 264 tonnes. Every day’s deficit is 4,780 tonnes and goats, sheep, chicken, cows and buffaloes come from other states.

The numbers in which Tamil Nadu is depleting its cattle wealth for meat will certainly have a long-term negative and almost irreversible impact on its agriculture and environment.

Of Australian Sheep and Amur Falcons

HORRIFIED reactions to an ABC TV report on the brutal slaughter of Australian sheep in Pakistan have prompted the Greens, veterinarians and animal rights groups to renew calls to ban live exports.

"A MIND-BOGGLING 120,000 to 140,000 Amur falcons, a protected species, are being slaughtered in Nagaland every year during their passage through the state," according to a report by Conservation India.
  • Wikipedia: Close to 99% of ethnic Naga living in Nagaland are Christian. The state has a very high church attendance rate in both urban and rural areas.

Animal Sacrifice

This is the first time I've heard of Hindus sacrificing animals for a festival. I thought sacrificing goats was a Muslim thing, and I've always felt it to be distasteful. Where did this tradition originate from?

Srinagar Municipal corporation to kill 100,000 dogs

Srinagar (PTI): Concerned over the increasing population of stray dogs in the city, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) will launch a drive to kill more than one lakh such dogs at the end of this month.

"We have set a target of killing more than one lakh stray dogs in Srinagar city. The drive is likely to begin in a fortnight's time," health officer of SMC, Riyaz Ahmad Dar, told PTI.

"We have to carry out this measure in order to make this city safe for human beings ... At the moment, it looks like the dogs are ruling the roost," he said.

Dar said there had a large number of dog bite cases over the past couple of years in the city. It has become difficult for the children to move around without fear. They are scared to go to schools even ... Even the grown ups are scared of moving out of their homes for pre-dawn and post-dusk prayers, he said

Feel the love. Does anyone sense some irony in this at all? "Make the city safe for human beings" Indeed. After the successful religious cleansing of 500,000 Kashmiri Pandits, the Jihadis are turning their hateful attention to man's best friend. And it is in total conformance with the exemplary standards of "compassion" and "humanitarianism" established by the prophet of this binary cult who had declared that "Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or there are pictures."

I object to mindless cruelty to animals and as a dog lover, find the slaughter of 100,000 dogs particularly revolting. There have been numerous distasteful instances of Mohammedan cab drivers in Britain, Australia, Norway, Minnesota, USA refusing to transport people with dogs, even blind people with guide dogs due to this koranic injunction. Here's some nuggets of wisdom from the ideology that inspires the barbarism.

"Once Gabriel promised the Prophet (that he would visit him, but Gabriel did not come) and later on he said, 'We, angels, do not enter a house which contains a picture or a dog.'" (Bukhari, vol. 4, bk. 54, no. 450)

"Ibn Mughaffal reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) ordered killing of the dogs, and then said: What about them, i. e. about other dogs? and then granted concession (to keep) the dog for hunting and the dog for (the security) of the herd, and said: When the dog licks the utensil, wash it seven times, and rub it with earth the eighth time." (Sahih Muslim, bk. 2, no. 551)
