The Indian civilization has made many significant contributions in the field of Mathematics, although it may not have been properly credited for the same.

Even illiterate Indians (with the possible exception of Congress party functionaries and Communist street thugs) are capable of doing basic addition.

There have been innumerable "major" terrorist attacks on Indian soil in the last 2 decades alone. Following is a short list, not necessarily in chronological order:

Zaveri bazaar blasts, Mumbai,
Attack on the Indian Parliament,
Attack on J&K assembly,
Delhi blasts on Deepavali eve,

26/11 attacks in Mumbai,
Hyderabad serial blasts,
Coimbatore blasts,
Ahmedabad blasts,
Akshardham Mandir attack,
Attack on Raghunath Mandir, Jammu - twice etc.

Most of the perpetrators of these terrorist atrocities are roaming around free. Therefore, there is no point exulting over the execution of one or two terrorists, after fattening them at taxpayers' expense for 12 long years. It does not compensate for the martyrdom of our brave security personnel - nor the countless lives of innocent Indian citizens.

Besides, the executions of Ajmal
Kasab & Afzal Guru - are astutely timed, politically opportunistic moves - deliberately aimed at:
1) arresting the growing popular momentum behind Narendra Modi,
2) diluting a sympathy wave after Bal Thackeray's demise,
3) distracting public attention from grave issues of corruption,
maladministration etc.
4) containing the damage caused by anti-Hindu, anti-national statements by certain high profile GOI appartchiks

Also, these are quite eminently secular executions - no responsible individual from the Indian Muslim community outside of Kashmir has expressed support for these terrorists or protested their execution. There was near unanimous support for executing
these enemies of the nation, barring a few lunatic fringe pseudo-liberals with Hindu sounding names.

Despite the obvious political motives behind the two executions - justice has been denied due to the inordinate delay - this is a small positive development, although not something to celebrate about.

After all, it is the responsibility of
the executive, the judiciary etc to take preventative and punitive action against enemies of the state. This is hardly a superlative achievement to gloat about.

The two Italian marines, now on bail in the case relating to killing of two Indian fishermen off Kerala coast on February 15 this year, on Friday filed a petition in the high court seeking relaxation of bail conditions to enable them visit their homes in Italy for Christmas.

The marines said their families have arranged special mass and prayers and they want to participate in the religious ceremony of Christmas in the last two weeks of this month.

I decided to take in a Bollywood movie, since I hadn't seen one of these in awhile, and went to see 'Agent Vinod'. This is that movie where Saif Ali Khan plays the titular RAW agent who is out to stop a nuclear bomb from being detonated in New Delhi.

Apparently, it's been banned by Pakistan because they feel the movie is anti-Pakistan. Well, I don't know how they drew that conclusion, since the storyline basically puts a Brahmin-led business cabale behind this nuclear bomb plot, with the goal of instigating hatred against Muslims. Fortunately, Agent Vinod manages to save the world from Brahmin perfidy, with the help of a lovely Pakistani ISI agent played by Kareena Kapoor. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that our politically-slanted Bollywood would promote this kind of storyline, but apparently the paranoid Pakistanis see anything from India as poisonous. Well, this time they're right, but for the wrong reasons.

Agent Vinod is produced by 'Illuminati Films' - what an ironically appropriate name for them. My question is - does Bollywood produce anything for the rest of us anymore?
