Quick notes: English-medium | Thorium reactors...

  • Land of Yesu + Macaulay: Soon AP will have no more Telugu medium govt schools.

Research conducted by the Indian School of Business found that Telugu-medium students performed “significantly better” in math and science than English-medium students, despite the fact that the English-medium students often came from a more affluent background. Since math scores are a good proxy for cognitive development, essentially students educated in Telugu-medium had better brain development than those who study in English-medium. This is consistent with research from across the world where mother tongue education leads to better outcomes.

“One of the highlights of my childhood education was discovering the system of *chhandas* in Telugu poetry, which has absorbed many of these ideas from Sanskrit, and has associated with it many computational aspects such as binary notation, use of error codes and even investigated, for possibly the first time, an algebraic structure such as a de Bruin sequence. The current education system seems to have taken these out of current syllabus to the impoverishment of Indian minds.”

Quick notes: Solar parks, Quality of living...

  • India's vast solar parks: Unlike in developed nations, the vast majority of solar power in India comes not from decentralized rooftop panels but from expansive parks. Indian authorities have enticed developers by acquiring land, building transmission links and offering up buyers for the new power, usually state-owned companies with low default risk.

  • 2018 Quality of Living ranking: "Indian cities are yet to make any marked leaps on the quality of living scale".... Mobility innovations: Unclogging streets could help city dwellers save 125 hours a year — the equivalent of three full work weeks.

China Blocks UN Report on Missile Proliferation

China has used its clout at the UN to block a report on missile proliferation, because it makes the Chinese look bad:

The report shows how Chinese clients North Korea, Pakistan and Iran all have identical long-range missiles - the No Dong, Ghauri, and Shahab respectively. All are based on Scud technology originating from China.

South Korea Responds, North Korea Blinks

Like a bully who doesn't know what to do when the person he regularly bullies stands upto him, the North Koreans are now showing what paper tigers they are, as South Korea mounts live-fire exercises along the border regions.

China Behaves Arrogantly with South Korea

The last few paragraphs of this Washington Post article are the most telling:

China's attitude to the problems on the Korean Peninsula was on display Nov. 27 when its top diplomat, State Councilor Dai Bingguo, visited South Korea for talks. China, according to South Korean officials, notified South Korea 15 minutes before Dai's departure that he was headed for Seoul and that he wanted to land at a South Korean air force base that is normally reserved for heads of state. China also informed South Korea that it wanted President Lee Myung-bak's schedule cleared for an immediate meeting with Dai. The South did not agree and Dai met Lee the next day.

During that meeting, Dai essentially gave Lee "a history lesson on the relations between Beijing and Seoul" and did not mention the North Korean attack on Yeonpyeong, said a South Korean official. "He just told us to calm down," the official said. Then at the end of the meeting, as the two were readying to shake hands, Dai, off the cuff, told Lee that China wanted to call an emergency meeting of the six-party talks, grouping the United States, Japan, South Korea, Russia, China and North Korea, to help lower the heat on the peninsula. Lee told Dai that - given North Korea's actions, a meeting would be tantamount to rewarding North Korean bad behavior. But Dai ignored Lee's rejection and when Dai returned to Beijing, China's chief North Korean negotiator, Wu Dawei, announced what it framed as a bold Chinese initiative: more talks.

"The South Koreans were really ticked off," said Daniel Sneider, an expert on Asian security at the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center at Stanford University who was in Seoul last week. "The whole way it was handled smacked of a certain kind of arrogance . . . and signaled that the Chinese weren't serious about reining in the North Koreans."

Brzezinski Fronting for China Again

Brzezinski is once again going to bat for his precious buddy China, whose interests he desperately wants to protect. The Chinese Far Emperor certainly gets a lot of mileage out of him. With Atlanticist policies making a mess out of NorthEast Asia by completely kowtowing to China, the Atlanticist spin-doctors are then hard-pressed to argue on China's behalf.

North Korea's Nuke Expansion Courtesy of China

North Korea has suddenly revealed its much expanded nuclear program, which has caught the world off guard. This could never have happened without China, as Forbes writes.

America's so-called "allies" have made fools of everyone. Their "ally" in the war on terror is a supporter of the terrorists, while their "ally" in non-proliferation is the chief proliferator.

The Dragon and its pet Dog

You've got to hand it to the Hans. They are past masters at shadow-boxing/deception, the whole works. All thanks to Sun Tzu who is the patron-saint of the current Chinese strategists. India should just mouth the usual platitudes and enjoy the show with some popcorn.

While at it, as someone was saying at Bharat Rakshak, maybe India can pay the North Koreans to have its own advanced nukes tested there.

From the article,

...the Chinese claimed to have learned about the recent nuclear test an hour in advance, which no one believes...

North Korea conducts 2nd Nuclear test

Hahahahahaha... So much for the carrot & stick diplomacy led by the US. China is back to thumbing its nose again via its proxy.
