Had Rahul Gandhi made the speech Narendra Modi did last week, he would have been hailed as India's shining white hope. But, since it was Modi, he had to be reviled. What he said was unexceptionable. So he had to be attacked on other grounds. 

So much so that even his former mentor, the tireless Shri Lal Krishna Advani, made an immediate veiled attack on him by saying that Independence Day should be an occasion when political leaders should refrain from criticising each other. Why? Shri Advani then trotted off to Rashtrapati Bhavan and was seen cozying up to Sonia Gandhi at the President's Independence Day tea party. 

I found this particular detail interesting because of my conviction that the reason why us denizens of Lutyens's Delhi hate Modi so much is because he is a rank outsider. He comes from the wrong class and caste. He speaks little English. He dares to criticise the Dynasty we revere. And he exhibits a marked disdain for socialism and secularism.

Apparently, this individual has been flip flopping with respect to her narration of events.
It would be instructive to clearly correlate her changing stories with her marital status at the given time.
How is her marital status related to her testimonials? See below.
And to think that she had been posted as Advani's personal bodyguard!!!

Whatever his recent psec affiliations, ex: Sudheendra Kulkarni may be, Advani's contributions to Hindu nationalism cannot be denied.
Even if what she stated were true, i.e. if Advani and the others celebrated the demolition of that hated structure, what is wrong with that?
Advani should proudly own up to being elated about the demolition - a historic event more significant than the tearing down of the Berlin wall
Instead of a docile apology, that too tendered on Pakistani soil, Advani can yet make amends for Dhimmitude of the recent past by emulating Uma Bharati - whatever her shortcomings, she gained in my esteem by acknowledging her association with the movement that brought down a symbol of national subjugation - and daring the UPA to arrest her.


"The Babri mosque demolition case made headlines again on Friday with a senior IPS officer Anju Gupta Rizvi deposing before a Special Court that BJP leader LK Advani gave a provocative speech in Ayodhya moments before the mosque was demolished by the Sangh Parivar activists. But Rizvi may find difficult to stand her ground during the cross-examination since twice in the past she had given clean chit to Advani.

“She gave clean chit to Advani in her deposition before the CBI and later before the Liberhan Commission. In two previous depositions, she found no fault with Advani and one fine day she discovers Advani made a provocative speech. Rizvi is certainly going to find it difficult to justify the U-turn,” senior BJP leaders told The Pioneer.

BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, “We would like to state that the court deposition does not entail a political rejoinder.” Rudy, who refused to comment on court or judicial matters, also said Indian judicial process was independent.

Those who have closely scrutinised Rizvi’s statement say while she repeated that Advani continuously appealed to karsevaks to climb down of the dome of the mosque, in her U-turn she claimed the senior BJP leader made this appeal because he did not want the karsevaks to get hurt by falling from the dome.

Rizvi, the PSO to Advani on that fateful day, deposed as a prosecution witness in the case in which Advani and other Sangh Parivar leaders have been accused of inciting violence. She is now posted at the Research & Analysis Wing and is married to Safi A Rizvi, the OSD to Home Minister P Chidambaram."

In fact, this very thought crossed my mind after reading her statements regarding the "Babri masjid" demolition. I was wondering whether this woman was a Hindu at all or had married some Jihadi Romeo.

Sadly, My conjecture turned out to be true. The Jihadi Romeo is posted as the Home minister's Officer on Special Duty!!!

Does anything else need to be said about the credibility and motivation of Anju Gupta Rizvi and the veracity of her deposition?

advani bares fangs: jaswant expelled

it is not necessary to agree with jaswant’s book to see through the cussedness with which advani has expelled him from the party. Even the pioneer notes that party protocol was not followed. Of course – it is each party’s discretion as to who will be their members. The point is not that you cannot expel people – but in this case, it is so transparently a power spat.

First vasundhara and now jaswant. LKA is aping indira gandhi – both in his intentions of exercising complete control over the party, and soon over the results i.e. probable disintegration and break-up of the party. With the LKA and Rajnath duo in action - I am reminded of Macbeth

This also explains why the RSS-Shakha types are destined to fail. If properly read (and I have not read it yet!) – this book could have been a searing indictment of the Congress of the 40’s – its opportunism, its failed record of dealing with Muslim separatism, and its ‘towering’ leaders – all men of clay. But the shakha-wallah is too intellectually lazy and politically cowardly to take on that project. As I have noted before – their only ambition is to be recognized as certifiably secular.

P.S - I have never trusted the ELM to do their reporting fairly – but if this is true – it is sad to see Modi’s government coming down with a hammer on a book. Why don’t they simply write their own book?

I will wait to see how an NRI-pitying journalist explains this blow from his heroes!
