but the economist was rather critical. they seemed to think that hirsi ali's minor transgressions should prevent us from appreciating her words. in other words, shoot the messenger.
i tend to think of her as a courageous person who spoke up. someone who suffered from genital mutilation and thus had her femininity destroyed deserves our sympathetic attention at the very least as a victim.
