obama the avenging angel. who failed.

I have long wondered if Obama was some sort of a kalki-figure destined to destroy america. sort of an avenging angel, of black and rop background. this essay, long and tortured as it is, says the same. and he failed, too.

kudos to musk/twitter, and netanyahu. and trump, too.

and the Jews have finally figured out the destructive Dem anti-Jew nihilism.

trump effect or tactical withdrawal? Iran downplays Israeli air attacks

either

1) Iran is biding its time to respond sharply (taqiya)

2) Iran understands at best an all-out war will result in a stalemate (a little like the iran-iraq war, which proved nothing after 8 years of war)

3) Iran is waiting to see if Trump comes to power (the trump factor).

Quick notes: Visa Gods | Indian inaction...

  • Visa Gods and Brain Drain: Why the Indian govt and media get all worked up about declining opportunities for Indian out-migration has never made sense.

In the early 2000s, when India’s rise was viewed in a positive light, many had hoped that like the East Asian communities in the US — Japanese, Koreans and Chinese — Indians in the US would also return home, invest in India and contribute to the home country’s development. However, for a variety of reasons, this expectation is yet to be realised.

It would be interesting to see how many of those who attended Modi’s rallies abroad have decided to return home to contribute to India’s “atmanirbharata”. . . . Taxing the Brain Drain.

  • Chabahar port rail project: Iran drops India after inking $400 billion China deal.. That China pulled the strings behind the scene cannot be doubted... The possibility of Iran leasing out the Chabahar port to China at a later date cannot be ruled out. If that happens, China would have extended its strategic reach to the Pakistan-Iran coast.

Act quickly: India dragged its feet on building the rail link from Chabahar to Zahedan. First, the delays were over contract disagreements, then the fear of US sanctions, and later, after the US provided a “carve-out” to India on the port and the rail link, the difficulty under the sanctions regime in finding international suppliers for material... From Nepal to Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Iran, Delhi has made commitments on building power projects, highways, railways, and other infrastructure. Each proceeds slowly or not at all. The Pancheshwar Dam project in Nepal, for instance, has been hanging fire since 1991.

  • Dr Bharat Karnad on India's inaction:

Commercial satellite imagery reportedly shows the LAC has shifted 12 to 15 kms in Depsang, 1 km in Galwan, 2 to 4 kms in Gogra and 8 kms in Pangong Lake. This would be by far the largest loss of territory to China since the 1962 war. Is this observation correct?
I have been warning since the beginning about the quite considerable loss of territory. I estimate that China's policy of what I have called incremental annexation has resulted in the loss of some 1,300 sq kms of Indian territory in the new millennium.

Should the buck not stop with NSA Ajit Doval?
Well, yes, because he is supposed to ingest all intel, field reports, military briefings, analyses and recommendations from the China Study Group, et al, and alight on policy options for the PM.

You have said repeatedly that Indian intelligence knew about the Chinese build up for the last one year. More specifically, intelligence had told the army about Chinese movements in the LAC area, but the army took this to be normal spring time activity. Would you say this has been an operational lapse by the army?
As I have already said, there's no excuse for XIV Corps Headquarters in Leh or army headquarters in Delhi and for the army misreading imagery intelligence transmitted to the Defence Intelligence Agency by DIPAC.

  • “You must make Tibet a core issue”: By referring it as the India China border, India had ceded 2.5 million square kilometres and legitimized Chinese claim, he stressed. “Now in Doklam and Galwan Valley, what are you arguing about..one kilometre here, or two-kilometre…you have already conceded 2. 5 million square kilometres of land. You must take it back; say it is the Indo-Tibet border and it is disputed…You must make Tibet a core issue”.

Quick notes: Exit tax, Friend of my enemy...

  • Exit tax on fleeing millionaires: There is an exodus of millionaires from India, and the govt suspects the rich are trying to escape scrutiny and tax liability.

  • Strategic loss for India? Iran invites China for Chabahar development. "Any Chinese presence at Chabahar, even if not involved in the operation of the port, could be used as a way of undermining India’s influence with local authorities".

  • The Friend of My Enemy: Iran is not comfortable with India because of its strategic partnership with the US and the new India-Israel relations. Ali Khamenei mentioned the Kashmir issue in some of his sermons for the first time, comparing it to the injustice meted out to Palestinians.

  • Uprising? New nationalist movement emerges from Pakistan’s Pashtun protests

  • Trump flirts with re-entering TPP: “If you want to send a message to China, the best way to do that is to start doing business with their competitors”

  • Death: Whatever is, is you. You are the unlimited, which is not susceptible to the senses. By limiting yourself to the body, you have closed yourself to the unlimited potential which you really are

  • A Challenger to Silicon Valley Emerges: The U.S. approach is “We’ll build a better product and just win over all the countries”. The Chinese approach is “we’ll fund the local partner to beat off the American companies”. All the rest of the world will basically be a land grab between the U.S. and China. Chinese-led venture funding is about 15 times its size in 2013, outpacing growth in U.S.-led financing, which roughly doubled in that time period.

  • Brain drain: Taiwan battles a brain drain as China aims to woo young talent away

  • From Sanskrit to Macedonskrit: "Stop translating, I understand what you are saying. You are speaking here some corrupted form of Sanskrit".

Quick notes: Gwadar's future, Iran's rise...

  • China in Gwadar: Indigenous residents’ fear of becoming a minority is inevitable with Gwadar’s population expected to jump more than 15-fold in coming decades. China will receive 91% of revenues until the port is returned to Pakistan in four decades’ time.

  • Is Iran the Mideast's new superpower? “For stopping ISIS in Afghanistan, the best alternative is the Taliban, so it is easy for Iran to support the Taliban. The Taliban hung them, ISIS people, out on trees for weeks, and no one was allowed to take them down, When Iran hit them strongly, [the ISIS fighters] moved to the east.”  That narrative is borne out by a map used by Afghanistan’s intelligence service. It shows ISIS emerging at points along Iran’s border in 2014-15, and then shifting east toward Pakistan’s border. “It’s a smart policy, to be honest,” says a Western official in Kabul.

  • India better be cautious: Uber accused of espionage, hacking and bribery in bombshell letter

  • China's AI awakening: China’s AI push calls for homegrown AI to match that developed in the West within three years, for China’s researchers to be making “major breakthroughs” by 2025, and for Chinese AI to be the envy of the world by 2030.

Iran sends a monkey into space

ISRO needs to be more aggressive. We cannot afford to be left behind by anyone in space, nuclear, missile technology - leave alone countries in our extended neighbourhood, irrespective of the state of relations with them.

India has no dearth of apes to send on one way space missions - Digvijay Singh, Suhail Qamar Al Hinde et al are prime candidates for the space voyage.

After all, President Obama, in his first term - altered NASA's mandate from research to "Islamic outreach" and highlighting Arab "contributions" to science. (sic)

http://www.sfgate.com/business/technology/article/Iran-says-it-successfully-sent-a-monkey-into-space-4228462.php

"TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A gray-tufted monkey strapped in a pod resembling an infant's car seat rode an Iranian rocket into space and returned safely, officials said Monday in what was described as a step toward Tehran's goal of a manned space flight... Deleted

Pakistan Brokers Saudi-Iran Rapprochement

Ever in the pursuit of its interests, Pakistan is attempting to mediate a rapprochement between mutual enemies Iran and Saudi Arabia, in order to forge a more effective club for taking control of post-US Afghanistan:

Meanwhile, in related news, Indian babus are snoring as usual, assuming they will automatically be able to rely upon Iran in the event of future competition in Afghanistan.

China Blocks UN Report on Missile Proliferation

China has used its clout at the UN to block a report on missile proliferation, because it makes the Chinese look bad:

The report shows how Chinese clients North Korea, Pakistan and Iran all have identical long-range missiles - the No Dong, Ghauri, and Shahab respectively. All are based on Scud technology originating from China.

Saudis Distrust Shia Zardari

One particular Wikileaks revelation I found to be noteworthy, was how the Saudis apparently distrust Zardari because he's a Shia. They seem paranoid that he'll collude with Iran and Iraq's US-installed Shia president. They might be right, but it's amazing how that nation of stone-age tent-dwelling chieftains is able to manage their survival. No wonder they're privately screaming for the US to rid them of their arch-enemy Iran. It's a good thing these WikiLeaks are at least forcing the Saudis out of the closet, so that the international public can see the depth of their antipathy towards Iran.

Too bad the Iranians can't be convinced to give up their pathological mania over Israel, to instead simply focus on their real foes, the Saudis.

India Pushes Iran on Chahbar Port

Since Karzai looks to be making eyes at Taliban, India is now pushing Iran to accelerate development of transit capacity at its Chahbar port, which India helped Iran to develop during the previous round of Afghan conflict, for resupplying Northern Alliance.

It looks like everyone's racing to the exits in preparation for the Afghan endgame, since the American presence looks to be increasingly shaky.

When the war re-starts, Pakistan will immediately set J&K on fire again, with a full-blown terror campaign. Once hostilities get fully underway again, India should be willing to take the war directly to Pak, via the Afghan route. Since India has an overwhelming advantage in air power, it should be willing to use its airbase in Tajikistan to run combat sorties against PAF warplanes near the Durand Line. If Haqqani & Co participate in launching terror attacks against Kashmir, then IAF should strike at them across the Durand Line.

We should lobby the Americans for their support rather than their interference on this, as a way of teaching Pak a lesson for their clandestine support for attacks on US troops. Once America is out of Afghanistan, then they are no longer vulnerable to Pak blackmail. If India takes revenge against Pak on behalf of the US, then Americans can feel vindicated - certainly, there is no love lost between them and Haqqani. We don't have to own upto any cross-border attacks, of course. If Pak accuses, we can ask them to SHOW PROOF - to borrow their favorite phrase. ;)

Pak's defenses are all along the border with India. They have no defense arrayed against the Afghan border. India should exploit this to the hilt and put them heat on them from that side.

WILL ISRAEL STRIKE IRAN?

Some lessons for the Hindus from the Jews,

... I always try to explain to non Israelis that they will not be able to understand Israelis or Israeli politicians and the Israeli decision making process without understanding how profound how deep is the memory of the holocaust in the overall character of the Israelis. AT the end of the day the first priority of the Israeli Prime Minister would not be American rage, European condemnation or Iranian retaliation, the first priority is that Israel, the Jewish people would never face another Holocaust...

Islamic Bomb Coming?

I thought it already arrived - with Pak. But according to the Washington Times, it will be arriving with Iran's nuclearization. I doubt it - because Iran's main enemy is Israel, and they back up their words with action. Pakistan's main enemy is only India, and we've all seen what our record is on deterrence - not very good at all.

To Act Or Not to Act?

The Obama Whitehouse is now locked in a deep tug-of-war over whether or not it should escalate its troop deployment in Afghanistan, and by how much.

Meanwhile, the Israelis are looking to pressure Russia to act on Iran, by threatening to support Poland and Czech Republic against it in retaliation.

Mullahs May Have Rigged Polls Thru Software

The mullahs in Tehran may have rigged the election in their favour using software. This is yet another warning that India shouldn't blindly go in for electronic voting technology that leaves no audit trail.

The Iranian Interior Ministry official who leaked this information has now suspiciously died from a car accident. The regime is not looking good right now.

I must say that I am very impressed by the strong turnout of the Iranian masses on the streets. Clearly the mullahs will not be facing docile sheep as they had hoped. Perhaps they'll have to stage a war with Israel in order to create a much-needed distraction.

Friedman Frets Over Iran

Tom Friedman, our Indophile friend famous for enunciating on flat-world physics, pleads with the international community to support President Obama in pressuring Iran. Well, India's only friend in counterbalancing Pakistan's subversion of Afghanistan has been Iran, so unless the US is willing to reliably commit to that role instead of propping up Pakistan, then I don't see how we can be expected to deliver. Barack Obama is instead talking about sending Bill Clinton as an envoy to Kashmir, on the pretext that such intercession would improve Pakistan's cooperation on Afghanistan. Until and unless Washington holds Pakistan accountable for its own failures, rather than blaming India for them, I don't see how Obama is going to cultivate sympathy in New Delhi.
