Quick notes: Accidental PM, $5 Chemistry set...

  • Prime Minister's Surrender: "Pulok Chatterjee from PMO had regular meetings with Sonia at which he would brief her on the key policy issues and seek her instructions on the important files to be cleared by the PM" (NDTV nearly blacked this out. We know their man Pankaj Pachauri succeeded Sanjaya Baru)

  • Mr Bright: Stanford Assistant Professor of Bioengineering Manu Prakash won a contest to develop the 21st-century chemistry set. His version, based on a toy music box, is small, robust, programmable and costs $5.

Tackling fiscal mess with 180 IQ

Bankrupting the nation so Kaangress can return to power
India's finance minister is finding it harder and harder to meet the government's budget promises and may sweep as much as $15 billion in subsidy costs into next year's accounts to ensure he hits fiscal targets ahead of national elections, ministry officials say.

By rolling over some costs, Chidambaram can tell voters in the run up to the elections, which must be held by May, that the government met its deficit target. But equally, he will be shackling the next government with costs that could blunt its ability to stimulate an economic recovery.

Meeting the target is important also to stave off the ire of ratings agencies as India's credit status sits just one notch above junk. A loss of its investment grade rating would probably increase the government's borrowing costs.

But Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has shied away from raising fuel prices for fear it could upset voters and cost his Congress party the elections.

A new law to provide cheap grains to millions of people has increased procurement and storage costs, inflating food subsidies by around 10 percent. "The budget will simply collapse, if we continue to provide subsidies on this scale," said a finance ministry official.

Subsidy spending has massively overshot budgeted estimates for the last three fiscal years forcing up the amount of cost that the government rolls over.

Quick notes: FDI in R&D, Safer Cars...

    • Low-end wart in FDI in research: Most of the activities in Indian R&D centres of Foreign corporations are relatively unimportant with little long-term gains for the country. “Foreign corporations believe our educational system probably does not inculcate the skills for innovation.”  (... Macaulay's children, not supposed to think original)

    • A proposal to force Reliance Industries to give up 86 per cent of eastern offshore KG-D6 gas block, including 8 gas discoveries worth at least $8 billion, has been put up to Petroleum Minister.

    • NYT Editorial: India in Reverse: Mr. Singh has been an ineffectual leader without much authority. The real power is held by his political patron, Sonia Gandhi, who leads the Indian National Congress Party, which has expressed little concern for the country’s ailing economy. In the nine years that the coalition government has been in power, several ministers have resigned in corruption scandals; large infrastructure projects have been delayed by mismanagement; the government’s budget deficit has ballooned, thanks to wasteful spending like subsidies for diesel fuel; and politics have thwarted reforms in labor and education.

Poodle Singh gets an F from German media

  • An editorial in the highly circulated German national newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine screamed:
“India has never had it so bad. Stealing in government has never been this brazen. Government officials are now so audacious in their corrupt practices that they do not give a damn about who is watching”.
“Supreme Court directives are routinely flouted. Crime rates are up and security of life including women’s safety, which is the first responsibility of every government, is at its lowest ebb. India must then be more than qualified to be called a failed state.”

  • In the Manager magazine, one of Germany’s leading glossy business journals, an article said:
“Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has a natural inclination to be a follower, not a leader. India is a country where merit and integrity have no value and the country continues to sink beneath the suffocating weight of mediocrity and unrestrained, rampant greed. The majority of citizens feel excluded and disrespected at all levels of their daily lives. The youth of the country that make majority of the populace clearly feel helpless and many are pushed to take to misdemeanour and crime.”

  • The German business newspaper Handelsblatt wrote:
“For India, it seems clear that the hope of becoming one of the best twenty economies in the world will only remain a daydream. Corruption is the bane of the society. The Government knows this and the crusade against corruption is being handled with kid gloves.”

Army Jawan's eyes gouged out by Jihadis in Kashmir

Will this barbaric act of Jihadis
elicit an emotional display of tears by Omar Abdullah in the
    Jammu & Kashmir assembly?

Will it cause the insomniac "Prime minister" to lose any sleep?

How long will the Indian armed forces tolerate such gruesome atrocities on their own personnel?

This is a question of national dignity. The perpetrators of such outrages cannot go unpunished,
"civilian authority" need not be paid obeisance to until infinity.

The Nightwatchman Who Didn’t Blow The Whistle

In virtually every scandal – from the 2G spectrum case to the coal block allocation scam – it’s by now well established that Manmohan Singh knew in real time that much mischief was afoot, yet he looked the other way. He was the nightwatchman who knew that the country was being looted, but didn’t blow the whistle.
If only Manmohan-the-mouse had roared sooner – and his aggression had been directed at the perpetrators of the corruption scandals – perhaps his thunderous speech in Parliament on Wednesday would have carried greater conviction.

    Sports in Stalinist India

Our Banana Republic is a poor imitation even of the Communist
model. The actual Communist nations of Eastern Europe produced world beaters in every sport they paid attention to.

The Nehruvian Stalinists are a special breed - they stifle everything in sight, including sports - because excellence in that could inculcate a sense of national pride in the people.

Uber Stalinist Kalmadi has been monopolising sports in India for close to 3 decades as if it were a family business. The latest revelation from the CWG scandal - Rs. 73 lakhs or approximately $138,000 for a
Mujra by Shilpa Shetty - I'd say that's a really expensive striptease, even if paid for with one's own money.

Will Sachin Tendulkar the great raise his voice against this outrage in the Rajya Sabha?

    http://m.economictimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/shilpa-shetty-got-rs-71-73-lakh-to-fulfill-wish-of-suresh-kalmadi/articleshow/18337758.cms

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court dealing with a CWG related corruption case today said two of the accused had paid Rs 71.73 lakh for cinestar Shilpa Shetty's performance in the closing ceremony of 2008 CWG Youth Games at Pune "merely to fulfil the last moment wish" of Suresh Kalmadi.

This deal must not be operationalised

    Panchsheel 2.0? Shimla agreement 2013?

Parse the lines and you'll notice a striking resemblance to the Lucknow pact - signed by the Dhimmi Congress in the early 20th century - wherein Hindus were enjoined, in their festivals to avoid playing music and taking out processions in the vicinity of mosques AND Moslems, in accordance with their tradition, were entitled to cow slaughter during their festivals!!!

Now, the contemporary legatees of the Dhimmi Congress of the early 20th century, under the leadership of
coconut oil Christist A.K. Antony are negotiating suicidal unilateral
    ceasefire agreements with all of
    the inimical neighours!

The modern day Shikhandis will insist on the incorporation of a
    clause giving enemy armies to
decapitate and mutilate Indian soldiers at the border, whereas Indian soldiers (reduced to Mango Men aka "Aam Aadmi" by the soft state) would be committed to sharing sweets with the enemy on Banana Republic day!

This trend needs to be arrested
    and such suicidal treaties killed
before they are born to deliver their poisonous fruit, with their concomitant disastrous consequences for the nation.

As they say in Hindi, this is
    "Pootna Mausi ka Prem", i.e.
the false "affection" displayed by demoness Pootna who tried to
murder the baby Shri Krishna with her poisoned breast milk.

"The Chinese side was "unusually warm" during the third round of talks and wanted a formal border management agreement along the more than 4,000-km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC).
NEW DELHI: China wants India to put behind the 1962 war as an "unfortunate" thing of the past and that the two countries should strengthen their military ties including formalising a border management pact under which their troops will not fire at each other.

The Chinese assessment was conveyed to the Indian defence ministry team which visited Beijing on January 14 and 15 for the third round of the annual defence dialogue between the two countries.

During the meeting with the Indian team led by defence secretary Shashikant Sharma, the Chinese side asked India to forget the 1962 war as an "unfortunate" thing of the past and said it looked forward towards better relations between the two countries, highly-placed defence sources said here today. India suffered a humiliating defeat in the 1962 war.

The Chinese side was "unusually warm" during the third round of talks and wanted a formal border management agreement along the more than 4,000-km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The Chinese side, the sources said, is expected to soon send proposals in this regard which would also suggest the two sides to agree on their troops not firing at each other under any circumstances.

Beijing also wants to formalise a mechanism under which there will be no night patrolling by the troops from both sides and if they cross each others' path, they will not follow each other,
    sources said."

    After Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, who?

Recall Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, a "peaceful" leader from the valley of Kashmir who had the distinction of being the first Moslem to serve as the Union Home minister of India - courtesy, the arch traitor V.P Singh (curse be upon him), an actual descendant of Jaichand, the traitor (curse be upon him) who betrayed Prithviraj Chauhan and the motherland to
an early Jihadi invader, Mohammad Ghauri.

Mufti's sole achievement in his tenure as Union Home minister was to stage manage the "abduction" of his daughter, Rubaiya Sayeed and release several dangerous Jihadi terrorists as her ransom - terrorists who had been captured alive at great cost, in men and material.

As if on cue, the Pakistani Taliban, with great alacrity have threatened to attack the alleged "BJP & RSS terrorist camps" in India!!!

The Home minister's propaganda is now directly threatening national security. He should be held personally culpable for any Jihadi attacks on Indian soil, from this poin onwards. The head honchos of the UPA regime are liable of wilful endangerment of the security of Indian citizens by tolerating, indeed actively encouraging this vile propaganda on behalf of the Lashkar E Taiba emanating from the precincts of the Indian Home ministry!!!!

This would be equivalent to U.S Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton denouncing the Republicans as "Christian terrorists" and inviting Al Qaeda to strike at them on U.S. soil!!!

Except, such an outrageous statement would not have been issued in any other self respecting nation - including by confused American "liberals". It is inconceivable, except in Nehruvian Stalinist India!!

Pakistani Taliban vows to strike at "BJP terror camps"
    in India

    http://m.risingkashmir.in/news/pak-taliban-vows-to-strike-at-%E2%80%98bjp-terror-campsacute-in-india-40578.aspx

    "Agencies
Peshawar, Jan 24: The Pakistani Taliban will carry attacks in Kashmir if the UN bodies and the US fail to stop the “BJP-sponsored state terrorism” against Muslims in the region, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan said Thursday.
“Indian Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's statement regarding BJP-backed terrors camps is an open confession that Hindu extremists are being patronized under the state's authority for killing innocent Kashmiri Muslims,”
    The Dawn reported.
Ehsan said the US and the UN should also order drone strikes and coalition troops invasion to target these terror camps.
He said that if the US and the UN does not take action against BJP and RSS terrorism against Muslims in India, then TTP would "take care" of it.
    "

Do we now have India's 2nd Moslem Home minister? In addition to his recent preposterous allegations of
"Hindu terrorism", providing grist to Pakistan's propaganda - some of his recent statements may provide a clue to his reality.
    Judge for yourself:

Was my childhood desire to pray at Hazratbal: Shinde
    IANS Oct 13, 2012, 06.24PM IST

SRINAGAR: Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde said Saturday it was his childhood desire to pray at the Hazratbal shrine, but it came about so that his wish was fulfilled only after taking over as the country's home minister.

Talking to reporters outside the Hazratbal shrine where he went with Kashmir's Minister of Home Nasir Aslam Wani and union Home Secretary R.K. Singh, Shinde said: "As a child it was my desire to come and pray at the Hazratbal shrine. I have been coming to Kashmir since 1980, but God so ordained that I should visit the shrine only after taking over the country's home minister."

    Pakis behead 2 Indian soldiers

    http://m.indianexpress.com/news/pakistan-troops-breach-loc-brutally-kill-2-indian-soldiers-chop-off-heads-carry-one-away/1056353/

This gruesome Jihadi atrocity should not go unpunished. Pakistan needs to be taught a lesson once and for all.

    Any other self respecting nation
would ensure swift and adequate retaliation in the form of air strikes, saturation bombardment of the enemy by artillery etc.

Alas, the brutal beheading of Indian soldiers will not be avenged until anatomically deficient people continue to be in charge of affairs in our motherland. It will also not happen as long as our candle light vigil class, addicted to Cricket & Bollywood is cured of their indoctrination by the proponents of "Delhi-Lahore bus yatras". The idiotic "Gujral doctrine" needs to be buried until eternity.

DD Staff Scapegoated For Poodle Singh's Boo-Boo

Five Doordarshan employees were suspended for failing to reach Prime Minister’s residence well in time to record his speech on the gang-rape of a physiotherapist, a day after his faux pas during the televised address to the nation landed him in the eye of storm. Private news channels telecast the unedited version of Singh’s address, which shows him asking somebody “theek hai (all right)?” at the end of the speech. The crew was late because of traffic restrictions on important roads leading to the PM’s residence.

    India suspended from Olympics

    http://m.thehindu.com/sport/other-sports/india-suspended-from-olympics/article4164041.ece/?secid=2780

Is this the crowning glory of the
    UPA's infamous "achievements"?

But, the "seculars" will counter that we don't win much anyway and it's all about the "luxury" of participation. They will also add for good measure that since Sachin Tendulkar has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha - all sport related inquiries are redundant!

Well, now with the endemic Nehruvian rate of growth pervading everything and tolerating nothing but socialist mediocrity - Indians will not even
have the "luxury" of *participation* in the Olympics anymore.

The Kaangress will surely appoint a committee to study this debacle, send them on a taxpayer funded trip to research how other countries manage to ensure participation in the Olympics and add a bullet point to emulate them in the next "Five year plan".

Can Lallu Yadav please pull some strings with his friends at Harvard? Do I hear a Mandal commission report recommending reservations
in the Olympics? There should be a quota for socialist, secular India. After all, we have the 2nd largest Moslem population in the world. They will go unrepresented in the Olympics!

    Gujral doctrine lives on

The pernicious doctrine of unilateral concessions to an implacably hostile and unrelenting enemy, unfortunately
will live on - until the mindset of
    pseudo liberalism is alive.

    Manmohan Singh himself
personifies the "Gujral doctrine" and perhaps is a better exponent of it than the original.

Sort of like the devastating AK-47 exceeding the Kalashnikov in
    performance. "Man of Peace" indeed.

Aakash tablet: Glorified Made in China junk

Is this Kapil Santa Claus Sibal and the UPA's idea of a "Christmas" (sic) joke?

    Ho-Ho-Ho.

The so-called Aakash tablet, much touted as a Kaangressi gift to India's malnourished
    Chillun (Kaangressi for children)
is as much an Indian innovation as Poodle Singh is the "Prime Minister" of India.

NEW DELHI/BANGALORE: The much-publicised world's cheapest tablet, Aakash 2 launched by President Pranab Mukherjee on November 11, may have been a cheap import from China, embellished with some applications from IIT Bombay, and not an Indian innovation that it was made out to be....

    Sonia's Poodle

The Independent: Manmohan Singh - India's saviour or Sonia's poodle?

Apparently, the title is now changed. A small donation from KKKangress kitty can easily make such a thing possible.
