Quick notes: Mohammedan brothers | Paki reputation...

  • Mohammedan Brothers: Pakistan forcibly deporting Afghan nationals.

  • How bad is Pakistan's image internationally? Couple of years back, I was at a place called Rouen, a pretty small town, about 3 hrs away from Paris. What was interesting was that there were a lot of Indian Restaurants in this small town, with names such as Rajasthan, Gandhi, Maharaja, Delhi, Namaste, etc. Each of these restaurants had a lot of symbols of India, Indian tradition & culture and things related to India.

What was surprising was that all of these restaurants were owned by people from Pakistan. Every staff working there were also from Pakistan. And all of these restaurant owners received me & my team very warmly. On asking why do they have Indian names, it was a common answer - Restaurants with names or references to Pakistan don’t really work. Hence, they bank on Indian names.

Instead of returning bodily nutrients, like potassium and calcium, to the ground, they slowly molder while shielded from the dirt. Lack of oxygen causes wasting flesh to release methane, a greenhouse gas more potent than the carbon dioxide we’d produce in open air.

Meanwhile, embalming fluid can leak into soil and make its way into our groundwater, potentially at hazardous concentrations. Our final contribution to humankind: toxic ooze. Many countries favor an option lighter on chemicals: cremation. It’s also becoming popular in the U.S.

Quick notes: Caliphate shutdown | Ericsson victory...

  • Caliphate gone but ISIS is alive: About 14,000 ISIS fighters are still in Syria and Iraq and are believed to have blended in with the local population.

  • Syrian Kurds under threat after IS 'caliphate' falls: The presence of American troops had acted as a shield against any Turkish offensive. But Trump in December shocked Washington's allies by announcing a full withdrawal of all 2,000 US troops from Syria."The Kurds are facing an uncertain future. The most urgent threat appears to be from Turkey".

Quick notes: Inferior Muslims, Ahmadi slaughter...

  • IS finds Indian Muslims 'inferior': South Asian and African IS fighters have a disproportionately high level of casualties as they are forced to the frontlines as foot soldiers. The six Indians killed so far are Athif Vaseem Mohammad (Telangana), Mohammad Umar Subhan (Karnataka), Maulana Abdul Kadir Sultan Armar (Karnataka), Saheem Farooque Tanki (Maharashtra), Faiz Masood (Karnataka) and Mohammad Sajid alias Bada Sajid (UP).

At times, the 'inferior fighters' are given a vehicle loaded with explosives, asked to go near a destination and call a certain number. They are told the purported individual would come and meet them to explain the mission. However, as soon as the number is dialed, the car explodes due to a pre-set mechanism aimed at destroying a specific target.

  • Why Pakistan persecutes the minority Ahmadi group: "In Pakistan, it is very easy for people who want to settle scores with their enemies to accuse them of blasphemy. They know that there are immediate arrests in blasphemy cases, and sometimes people are killed on the spot."

  • Madhuchandan, a software engineer from US is making farmers richer! "Our agriculture scientists are misleading farmers. Once a group of farmers were advised to set the waste on fire after the sugarcane field was harvested. The fire actually destroys the micro-organisms that are needed to maintain the soil fertility. The biggest drawback of our country is that we have agriculturists who have lot of theoretical knowledge but have no practical wisdom. Our agriculture universities should have experienced farmers instead of experts," points out Madhu.

  • India should master Solar Thermal:  Solar thermal technology only works in hot sunny countries. The price is falling, and its growing capacity to store energy is arousing interest.  The cost of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels is falling much faster but the International Energy Agency expects them both to play a part in an energy revolution which is likely to see solar as the dominant source of electricity globally by 2050.

Paddy Padmanathan of Saudi-owned ACWA Power, which is running the
Moroccan solar-thermal project, said: "Whether you are an engineer or not, any passer-by is simply stunned by it. You have 35 soccer fields of huge parabolic mirrors pointed to the sky which are moveable so they will track the Sun throughout the day."

Quick notes: Putin was right, Slaughter repeat...

  • Democratic revolutions, the manufactured kind: “After the end of the Cold War, a single center of domination emerged in the world, and then those who found themselves at the top of the pyramid were tempted to think they were strong and exceptional, they knew better.  Then, adopting policies based on self-conceit and belief in one’s exceptionality and impunity this single center of domination, the United States, began to export so-called democratic revolutions".

How did it all turn out? Says Putin: “An aggressive foreign interference has resulted in a brazen destruction of national institutions. … Instead of the triumph of democracy and progress, we got violence, poverty and social disaster. Nobody cares a bit about human rights, including the right to life.”

  • Now imagine 700 Mandyam Iyengars slaughtered on Diwali eve by Tipu:

  • An Open Letter to Moderate Muslims:

    (1) A moderate Muslim states that ISIS is wrong, they aren't "true" Muslims, and Islam is a religion of peace.

    (2) A questioner asks: what about verses in the Quran like 4:89, saying to "seize and kill" disbelievers? Or 8:12-13, saying God sent angels to "smite the necks and fingertips" of disbelievers, foreboding a "grievous penalty" for whoever opposes Allah and his Messenger? Or 5:33, which says those who "spread corruption" (a vague phrase widely believed to include blasphemy and apostasy) should be "killed or crucified"? Or 47:4, which also prescribes beheading for disbelievers encountered in jihad?

    (3) The Muslim responds by defending these verses as Allah's word -- he insists that they have been quoted "out of context," have been misinterpreted, are meant as metaphor, or that they may even have been mistranslated.

    (4) Despite being shown multiple translations, or told that some of these passages (like similar passages in other holy books) are questionable in any context, the Muslim insists on his/her defense of the Scripture.

  • Chabahar Port: Iran offers India control of the strategic port.

  • Carbs For Evolving Brains: Our bodies convert starch into glucose, the body’s fuel. The process begins as soon as we start chewing: Saliva contains an enzyme called amylase, which begins to break down starchy foods. Quick notes: 'Genocidaire' of masses, Scorched birds...

  • ISIS is Islamism without its palatable wrappings: "Islam is not just the ‘opium’ of the masses as Marx has said but their genocidaire".

  • In Iraq, U.S. is spending millions to blow up captured American war machines.

  • Female Kurdish Fighters are a big problem for ISIS extremists

  • Solar plants scorch birds in mid-air: Quest for clean energy sometimes has inadvertent environmental harm.

  • For Bharatiyas, religion is all about experience:

Hinduism is defined by me as re-enactment of sacred narratives, i.e. participatory and not just theoretical knowledge. Yoga is not an act of watching someone else do asanas, nor is meditation, nor yagna.

Note that TV Ramayana killed the live enactment of Ramlila that had been continuously performed in every village as the theater of nation building.
It is possible that one day some stupid "development" plan by the government might broadcast Kumbh Mela live from multiple locations, making it unnecessary to go to the Mela itself. Similarly all yatras might become virtual yatras available to you sitting on the couch at home drinking your chai. Would that be Hinduism or simply infotainment?

If you understand the importance of this, then you will know what kinds of examples I need to help my yagna: Rajiv Malhotra

Tryst-With-Destiny vs Tryst-With-Dynasty

Forbes has published an article by Robert Kaplan et al on the upcoming contest between Congress Party scion Rahul Gandhi and challenger Narendra Modi:

Mohammedan Law Comes To Rapists' Rescue

A Muslim man has been absolved of charges of illegally confining and raping a minor by a Delhi court which cited the Mahomedan Law that allows a 15-year-old girl to marry against the wishes of her parents.

The IPC treats a girl as minor till she attains the age of 16 years and establishing physical relations with her, even with her consent, is an offense entailing life term as maximum sentence.

Justice for Captain Saurabh Kalia?

The most inhuman and unspeakable torture was inflicted on this martyr and his fellow soldiers for 22 days before finally being killed.

Captain Saurabh Kalia must have been only 23 years old when he made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.

Are our shameless politicians and chattering classes worthy of such sacrifices?

I'm not sure going to the International court of justice will achieve anything, if the goal is to compel Pakistan to discipline its Jihadi soldiers. Pakistan and its army are only emulating the tenets of Jihad enunciated in the Sharia law and the brutal traditions exemplified throughout the history of Jihadi expansionism in "infidel" lands.

The bestial torture of Captain Saurabh Kalia ranks with the torture of Sambhaji (son of Chattrapati Shivaji), Guru Gobind Singh, Guru Tegh Bahadur, Banda Bairagi, Prithviraj Chauhan and countless other martyrs of the heroic Hindu resistance to Jihad
over the aeons.

Pakistan needs to be punished severely for this atrocity. Dr. Kalia's inititive needs to be supported because it reminds us
of Captain Saurabh Kalia's sacrifice and re-awakens our sleeping populace to the dangers of mindless gestures of "Cricket diplomacy", Delhi-Lahore bus yatras etc.
