After reading the article, it seems that not only the Bush administration but even the magazine does not seem to understand the Asia scenario. The entire article seems to warn of a militarised Japan while just making a passing remark of China's militarisation. This is similar to how the West treats India - remember 'how dangerous it is for the world that nuclear weapons were in the hands of Hindutvavadis.' while it is ok for the 'moderate' Pakistanis to have it.
