i can relate to this. i bought an hp 9000 series laptop with a huge 17" screen. nice machine, but *so much* garbage is preloaded on it it is unbelievable.
The best would be to uninstall stuff you do not need, the first thing.
Or format the disk, and use the recovery DVD/CD that bundled with it. Maybe it will give you a choice regarding what programs you want to install. (That again is time-consuming and cumbersome, and I doubt if formatting the drive means voiding the warranty etc).
