of course, this is the ancient celebration of the vernal equinox, which fell on march 21st. as we have discussed before, because of the precession of the earth's axis, the 5000-year-old hindu calendar is off by three weeks.

maybe things will improve in india this year. the UPA is, like the republicans, proving to be a one-hit wonder. they are going to be trounced in UP, and the communists, despite all their bluster, will never live down nandigram.
