it shows ineptitude and perhaps desperation on the part of the americans. they also underestimated the enemy.
impressive show of tactical smarts by the taliban. reminds me of their brilliant assassination of ahmed shah massoud.
btw, that reminds me -- does the erstwhile northern alliance exist in any form in afghanistan any more? so that if/when the karzai government collapses and the taliban recapture power, there is going to be a competent and militarily capable opposition.
