someone massacres the pretentious 'genocide suzie'

jan 8th, 2010

ok, 'the exile' does write a lot of dubious stuff -- including the story that samuel reddy was bumped off by anil ambani (or was it larry summers?) which caused samuel jagan reddy and pals to riot in hyderabad -- but this is giving old suzanne a good old-fashioned spanking. enjoy.

Rajeev, you should have this framed and made into a permanent 'sticky' on your site :-)

When I first plodded through her novel when it came out, it struck me that she had plagiarized from To Kill a Mockingbird, and two other books.

So once in a while, I search to see if someone else had the same thought. IIRC, the exile article is a few years old. It is a good one though.

However, I would urge you to read the following by Minu Ityipe. This is the best expose of Susie and goes into great detail in the similarities between Roy's book and the one from which she plagiarized.

Minu Ityipe correctly describes the sense of deja vu I had while plodding through Roy's book. More than ten years ago, I sent in feedback to Ashok Banker who had written a review of Roy's book and told him about my thoughts that she had plagiarized her work primarily from To Kill a Mockingbird. At that time, Banker responded that I should be more charitable since there are a finite set of themes and every writer could become vulnerable to such accusations.

When multiple people have the same thought process while reading Roy's novel, you have to conclude that she is a plagiarist.

No wonder Roy does not want to go back to novel writing...When you try to follow Vatsyayana's prescriptions in bed, your heart begins to ache for perpetual day.

Guess even the tribals are getting the clear picture and figuring out who these 'Human Rights' walas really are...

"While Medha, being a woman, did not face much humiliation, her companion Pandey was pulled down from the motorcycle and given a hiding. He was pushed around and asked why the activists had done nothing for the tribals but found cause to support Naxals."
