in case anybody feels like checking out the erstwhile mardi gras. i did once or twice, and found other old fogeys like me eyeing the nubile maidens with bad intent (apologies to jethro tull, aqualung).
big differences from my days (yes, those ante-deluvian days) -- the kids have figured out how to get sponsorships, so they have money, and the place is plastered with advertising.
something that remains the same: the boys still don't know how to chat up the cute girls who show up from bangalore and delhi and so on :-) poor social skills, still. sigh. plus ca change...
ignore all the "give us money" stuff, although i am glad iit/m is doing this -- it's still pretty mellow compared to the shrieking and tugging-at-heartstrings american universities do to try and wring some loose change from alumni wallets.
