Dear Colleagues:
As you may be aware in a horrific attack in Qena, Egypt on a Coptic
Church after Christmas Eve mass on January 6, 2010, three Muslim
gunmen opened fire and killed 8 young Coptic Christians.
Human Right Coalition Against Radical Islam (HRCARI) is an apex body
of 35 organizations - including four Indian Americans associations.
Coptic Christians are holding a peaceful rally in front of UN building
on January 19th. They are an important component of HRCARI.
We feel it is our duty to support Coptic Christians in their hour of grief.
I will appreciate it very much if you could kindly let us know if you
will be participating in the rally to support them at U.N. on 19th at
12:00 noon.

Nag Hamadi Diocese. The attack led to the death of eight young
Coptic Christians and the injury of fifteen. So, instead of the usual
joyous Christmas festivities, mourners filled the streets in a
heartbreaking funeral procession for the victims on Christmas day, the
youngest being only nineteen. Local police officials were aware of
the attack ahead of time and warned they would not be responsible for
anything that occurred after 10PM. The attack was in retaliation to
the churches refusal to participate in government sponsored forced
reconciliation sessions, after a November 2009 attack by Muslims on
Coptic properties.
The bishop called the attackers "Muslim radicals," and said "It is all
religious now. This is a religious war about how they can finish off
the Christians in Egypt."
Please join the peaceful rally in NY, Fr. Morcos Aziz and other Coptic
clergy will lead the rally...

i am a bit surprised at this post. Muslims killing copts is purely a case of wolf killing wolf. in the early centuries of christianity, coptic monks were known for their fierce fanaticism. detsroying temples, burning / ransacking libraries, etc. pity no pagans left to tell the tale. the story of hypatia if of course well known. recently their was a movie on her.
it is a question of highlighting the fight for the (non-existent) rights of non-mohammedans in mohammedan-majority areas -- eg. malaysia, and parts of india. the copts, like assyrians and hindus, are being slowly wiped out in these areas.
There are still some differences between christianity and islam. The coptic language and culture can be traced back to ancient egypt. Even europeans acknowledge their pre-christian traditions and culture. You see a similar dynamic in SK. In fact with christianity, you are allowed to leave the cult if you choose to eventually. This is what happened during the reformation and the age of enlightenment. Nationalism and cultural pride can still exist in spite christianity.
With islam those that leave the cult are considered to be apostates and must be condemned. With Islam all pre-islamic culture is totally and absolutely destroyed. National identity and culture is destroyed and is superseded by islam. This has occurred everywhere that islam has infiltrated. The exception to this would be the Persians who despite converting to islam and accepting the arab conquest converted specifically to shia islam not sunni like the majority of the arab population. The iranians were able to ferociously defend their culture and never let the arabs forget their animosity. This is the reason for the tension between the arabs and the persians, they were never able to get the persians to fully submit to their preferred version of islamism.

Copts are not persecuted in Egypt. All of that are just rumors!
No racism in Islam and the Muslim Egyptians are not radicals.
The emigrant Egyptian Christians make the Sectarian Sedition by themselves. They suffer from the Persecution Complex.
The Egyptian Copts take all their rights & freedom. Everyday, they build new churches in Egypt.
What happened in Upper Egypt was just a revenge accident. The Muslim killers would kill the Copts; even if the victims were Muslims also.
The president of HRCARI, the so-called (Caroline Labib Doss) and the vice-president (Bhupinder Singh Bhurji) don't live in Egypt and know nothing.
The martyrs of Christmas's EVE were six Copts and one Muslim, and not eight Copts.
Why didn't Caroline this and her assistant apologize about the last month accident?
An Egyptian priest's wife eloped from her husband in July 2010. As usual, the emigrant Egyptian Copts in USA said: the Muslims in Egypt kidnapped the priest's wife to convert her to Islam coercively!
But after the Egyptian police returned the fugitive wife to the church, no one Christian apologized about this wrongful indictment!
