The etymology of 'Purana', the name for the mythological stories of Hinduism, can be taken as Ancient (Pura) and New (Nava)...(This is the interpretation of Adi Shankara when the epithet 'Purana' is applied to the soul). The juxtaposition of tradition and its present avatar is therefore quite interesting...
