now they're trying to offer india/japan the unbuilt west terminal, while the almost completed east terminal will go to... (drum roll!) some chinese company (i assume)
yes, incompetence by UPA, but bad faith by rajapakses too.
also this is why trivandrum's vizhinjam container port is so important. it is a 24 meter deepwater transhipment terminal that will eat into colombo's 25% share of indian container traffic. and not be subject to chinese vetoes.
