there was a kind of implicit promise that the two would be kept separate, when facebook bought whatsapp.

india is whatsapp's biggest market, so this is relevant to us. 

and besides we're all addicted to whatsapp. so it IS a problem. just like what twitter is doing in censoring (even the sitting POTUS!).
