so why didn't he tell the christists that *they* should abandon their blind-faith ideology and their dogmas?

and he who talks about eschewing dogma, can he explain why he has stuck to the following dogmas:

a) the nehru dynasty is the only thing that india needs
b) mohammedans have priority access to all of india's resources
c) appeasing china is the best way forward?

the guy is such a pathetic excuse for a human being!

Manmohan didn't explicitly reference Hinduism, but he appears to be dog-whistling. Assuming that he was indeed dog-whistling, then it is extremely disappointing and it cuts down my respect for him in half.

"Christian missionaries over centuries in the development of education and rational thinking in the country. "

That's a bullshit claim. Someone should remind him that from the Rgveda to Panini (500 BC) to Chanakya to Aryabhatta to Bhaskara Madhava (1400s) to Ramanujan, Indian (and Hindu!) genius created the mathematical and linguistic platform for rational and scientific evolution: Indian Mathematics: Redressing the balance, Ian G Pearce, http://www-history.mcs.st-andrews.ac.uk/history/Projects/Pearce/index.html

It seems that on communal matters, he is given to appeasing everyone else at Hindus' expense. I expect better from him. He needs to stop doing that, and start giving Hindus the due respect. I do give him credit, though, for not dumping Swamy (when Amartya gang tried to snuff him out in the 80s or 90s) as you reported a few weeks ago from Swamy's Oped on Samuelson.
