A Hindu Nationalist Perspective
I seriously doubt that. Indians need access to truth and facts, not just "fair balance."
Why do Indians need a Fox channel to peddle lies? Isn't truth on the side of Indians? Besides, it is strange that you ask for a pro-Christist channel like Fox.The problem with Indians is that they only think of imitating others (be it Fox or the leftists).
I agree that the channel need not be like FOX, per se, but we need news publications and channels dedicated to 'truth and facts' (as socal puts it) which should not be difficult given that truth is on our side (as you put it). However, truth is also on the side of the Tibetans, for example - yet they are a landless, persecuted people and culture, while China with its massive military and Xinhua propaganda persecutes them successfully since they really have no voice or power other than occasional obligatory spurts from the Western media. Therefore, I think KD's point is that we need assertive mediums to convey messages of truth and priority (as FOX does its opinions) to counter the monopoly that politically motivated and sub-par outlets have over the Indian media and subsequent discourse. And this probably needs to be done quickly before India becomes another Tibet.
arvind said...The problem with Indians is that they only think of imitating others (be it Fox or the leftists).I agree with you arvind. We shouldn't be imitating others. By the same token, we shouldn't be having cars, tv, internet, cellphones, submarines etc. as it is not our invention. Also we shouldn't be having guns to fight our enemies either, as it is probably a 'Christist' invention. We should use bows & arrows instead. Provided it is not a 'Christist' invention.
The better way is to disintermediate the media and have a CSPAN like operation that simply broadcasts events and opinions without censorship.A FOX like channel will be a help to get the millions and millions informed with a conservative slant - but for the intellectual transformation of India; for the 'movers & shakers' of the society to be moved to the alternate point of view requires a sustained investment in good, highly intellectualized programming a-la CSPAN
Arvind, While your point about Fox News being a christist channel is well taken (btw, Fox is owned by the same christist, Rupert Murdoch from convict land who controls the Indian christist idiot channel - STAR TV). However, KapiDhwaja's was alluding to the absence of a vehicle for dissemination of cultural nationalism/conservative Hindu values in the psec Indian media - and comparing that with American conservatives (many, but not all of them loony bin christists) establishing their own tv channel to counter the American liberals. This is indeed a significant deficiency for the Hindus which the 3M thugs exploit at every opportunity. Do you think, for example - it would have been possible for the John Dayal, the Cedric Prakash, Javed Anand, Owaisi type scum to acquire respectability and a certain manufactured "truth" value for their diabolical anti-Hindu, anti-national venom without the NDTV, CNN-IBN, Burka Dutt, Prannoy Roy, Rajdeep Sardesai psec dirtbags?? Therefore, development of a Hindu presence in the electronic media is an imperative without alternative.
