US report on human trafficking 2008

jun 17th, 2008

there are certainly faults to be found in the report: glaringly, the US exempts itself from being ranked. and as usual, there is the unfortunate american tendency to show india in a worse light compared to others in the neighborhood. i find it hard to believe that there's more human trafficking in india than in neighboring countries, considering the many stories of violence against women, for instance in pakistan, but i may be wrong.

anyway, this is a sad story. it's a large document, 295 pages long.

i will also bet that china will now come out with its own report on human trafficking, which will show the US as the worst offender.
