it's all semantics, isn't it? as we have long maintained, the mohammedan lexicon, like the communist lexicon, uses technical terms that have no relation to the dictionary meaning.
"innocent" in the mohammedan lexicon means "mohammedan non-combatant".
by definition non-mohammedans, even infant or women or aged non-combatant non-mohammedans, are wicked. or ignorant. both invite extermination.
They are generally wicked because they have refused to convert to the wonderful mohammedan ideology when told about it (it is written that as soon as he -- always a he, as women are ipso facto wicked anyway -- hears about mohammedanism, a non-wicked person is seized by an uncontrollable urge to run for the nearest pair of scissors and then to the nearest madrassa).
or they are ignorant, because they have not heard about mohammedanism. in either case, they are not "innocent", and the mohammedan terrorists can kill them.
actually in a pinch the mohammedan terrorist is allowed to kill other mohammedans too. just label them shias or qudianis or some other heretic and lo! they turn into "non-innocents". it becomes the duty of the good mohammedan to dispatch them pronto! see, it's so simple! no wonder mohammedanism is so popular -- so easy to practice, so incredibly appealing. of course, the small print says that after you kill the "non-innocent", you get to keep the "non-innocent's" property and women.
there was another article on the same topic in the nytimes which suggested that mohammedan terrorists be called "terrorists" or "hirabis" (barbaric pirates): http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/02/opinion/02singer.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=hirabist&st=nyt&oref=slogin
the nytimes article is right. why split hairs on mohammedan theology? just call these guys terrorists; of course the ELM in india are worried about hurting terrorists' feelings. an arab friend of mine has always told me that calling the terrorists in kashmir "mujahideen" is idiotic, because that means "holy warriors". the ELM insists on calling them that and encouraging them.

Terrorists now swear by 'qattal'! | |||||||

New Delhi, June 3 (PTI) After decades of bloodbath in the name of jihad or holy war, terrorists are changing gear and indulging in 'qattal', an act by which they kill even their own people, a top Pakistan leader said.
"Terrorists are now replacing the term jihad with the Islamic term qattal for their acts," Hasham Baber, additional secretary general of Pakistan's Awami National Party told PTI.
Hardline religious leaders in Pakistan are now using the new term because moderate Muslims have started denouncing the use of jihad by terrorists who indulge in violence in the name of Islam, said Baber.
Explaining the term 'jihad', Baber, who was in India to attend an anti-terrorism conference, said: "It is not about fighting a war or battle or even killing people but a struggle for peace. It means a collective decision to struggle.
"Qattal, on the other hand, means I am allowed to kill a Hindu, Christian at will or even a Shia." Stressing that Islam does not permit killing of innocents, he said "Terrorism is being given a religious colour by fundamentalists out to achieve their skewed agenda."
Baber, whose party is part of the newly-elected PPP-led coalition, said: "The religious education in Pakistan as whole has degenerated into bloodshed."
The senior leader said what is now happening in the name of terrorism is nothing but proxy war.
"Today two countries don't fight with each other. Terrorists are trained and are being sent out by establishments to wage proxy war with each other," he claimed.
