The current edition of the Faultlines quarterly has some great assessments of the current situation in the Indian neigbourhood. The best piece is Ajay Shani's no nonsense assessment of US policies in Pakistan. The Yanks are being led down the garden path by Gen. Mush

The piece on Pahtu literature by Fazl-Ur-Rahim Marwat is also eye-opening. The Pashtu cause fills one with sadness. It is yet another of the Congress parties historical failures. The reality that Indians will one day have to face is that when it came to independence the Kangressi leaders - to use Bacha Khan's phrase - 'threw the Pashtuns to the wolves'
