rather interesting news. the numbers i had heard so far said that india was planning on a max of 7% of its energy from nuclear sources in the near future. 26%? how many chernobyls and how many pakistani-supported thefts of nuclear material would that be?

also interesting perspective by wired: india should go into high-risk nuclear energy so that white countries are not affected so much by global warming.

iaea knows the percentage. indians are told it will be 7 per cent.
now is this a mole in the indian govt has already agreed to this agreement and just playing it out to the indian public...saying just 7 per cent...
looks like india is already sold....by these moles...who can they be?
Is it just me or do these projections of percentages in 2030 and 2050 sound like bunkum - presently production solar cells are already at 20%-24% efficiency.

My personal opinion is that with continuous improvements in semiconductor technology we are looking at solving the energy problem in 10-15 years time.
It is odd that the west should be lamenting about emissions from India and China, when they - the industrialised west are the greatest culprits on that account, far out of proportion to their populations. How about acceding to the Kyoto protocol first and improving public transport in the USA? Why should India be expected to take on their burden always?
