Food riots in Stalinist West Bengal

A very unedifying episode for the nation, but typical of the enforced deprivation of the proletariat under communism. Food riots of this kind were a familiar occurrence in the Soviet block during the cold war, but when did they last occur in independent India? Trading of allegations between the Kaangress and the Communists is certainly entertaining, but the stark reality is that West Bengal under the Maoists is not very different from Stalinist North Korea.
Deprivation manufactured by the Communists and Nehruvian Stalinists is what attracts ghouls like Teresa to Bengal.
