the fact is that america is far more fundamentalist than india is. in the us, the christists try to oppress all minority religions (esp the horrible cults like baptists and pentecostals like to think they have a direct hotline to god -- remember oral roberts who once told his followers, "jesus told me he'll call me to heaven unless you guys give me $10m in 5 days". they did give him $10m. oral died 20 years later).
in india, the state oppresses only hindus.
so the pew report is right, for the wrong reasons: there is terrible discrimination in india, but it is only against hindus.
