Mrs. Gandhi demonstrated a strong commitment to a progressive left-of-center agenda...
However, Mrs. Gandhi never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity to show real leadership.

I was reading comments on Dhume's article on Rahul gandhi in the WSJ, when I read a comment from Dhume bad mouthing Modi. Click here for the articlek
I posted a comment responding to Mr Dhume. I think some people may like it. I am reposting it below:

Mr. Dhume:
You are spreading the canard that somehow Mr. Modi was responsible for the riots after the Godhra carnage and is somehow guilty of murder. I find this unacceptable and misrepresentative of facts. There have been several investigations into the role of Mr Modi during that unfortunate period. In every case, it was determined that Modi did everything he could to get the riot situation under control. He requested the army within hours of the break out of voilence.
Modi has reminded people that during the riots he even requested additional police forces from neighbouring states ruled by the congress party, but the congress party governments, not surprisingly, did not provide him any help.
The media was totally unhelpful and actually exacerbated the situation. The real reason for the riots was the media blackout of the massacre of Hindu women and children by a large groups of muslims who burnt the carriage of a train passing through Godhra. Observing a blatant suppression of the truth and playing down the gravity of the crime, the common people of Gujrat were enraged and took to the streets.
The media, guilty of their misreporting, which had let to an escalation of tempers, tried to shift the entire blame for the sorry episode to Mr. Modi. And now you want to tell us that the media was right in their reporting then, but over the years have somehow lost their credibility.
The media in India has always been corrupt, in their reporting on Godhra, in the reporting of the 2G spectrum scam, and also in their attempt to project Rahul Gandhi as the future leader of India.
It will be instructive for you to read an article on the Gujrat riots that present the other-side-of-coin view of how Modi managed the crisis. You can read it at:
http://www.gujaratriots.com/29/role-of-the-government-in-controlling-violence/
The article provides details of the entire operation during Modi's tenure to quell the voilent mobs that resulted in more deaths for Hindus than muslims.
From your perceptions on Mr Modi, you prove yourself no different from other media personalities such as Barkha Dutt, about whom you wrote an uncharitable article, not too long ago. The people of Gujrat know the facts. It is not surprise they keep voting for Mr. Modi. And it is to Mr. Modi's credit, that he has not let the people of Gujrat down. Can something like this be said of any other big leader in India today?
The tallest leader in India today is undeniably Mr. Modi. He commands the reapect of every nationalistic Indian. Your artifcles do not mean much if they will not acknowledge these facts.

This has got to be, without exception, the worst and most disastrous government India has ever had.
The Wikileaks documents , whatever their value, merely confirm that this creature and her "sleepless" sidekick need to be booted out permanently.
The ELM has completely sold out: they are printing stories about Cong Part "anti-corruption resolutions"!
chitrakut -- has dhume's article changed online? the version http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703581204576033031265052272.html
i see now does not mention modi except in passing as 'less than subtle'.
what article are you responding to? btw, dhume is on twitter as @dhume01, and you could tweet him there.
Rajeev,
He was not bashing Modi within his article this time. But he did imply in the comments to that article that Modi was culpable.

I have sensed a pattern in his articles. And felt he should get a piece of my mind. If he wants to be taken seriously by people like me, he better stop the slander. My comments have been posted to the site. He will not miss them. I will even send him a tweet.
