bizarre story. this is either sad or comical, depending on your perspective.
there will eventually be raiding parties traveling south to capture any random unattached women available there. much like the chinese are now going to vietnam, cambodia, etc. to find women. in a perverse way, this will affect the dowry system, making women so hard to find and desirable that men will actually pay dowries to get women. (they are sort of doing this by paying agents according to this article.)

it is said that there are 30 million chinese who will never find wives. so china will go to war to kill off these guys, who will be anti-social otherwise. well, india can retaliate with its own 30 million 'excess men', thanks to amniocentesis and sonograms.

Rajeev, I don't mind social blending/assimilation overall, but I agree that there is much more of a distorted myopic male-chauvinist culture in the north which is then creating social strains.
LOL, still think that all the old Invasion Theories are a myth? Proof is in the pudding.
Anyway, this is why I feel that the broader economic development is a necessity, by creating blue-collar jobs which will uplift the broader masses and their social values. Otherwise, all our ad-hoc social engineering will land us in trouble.
We are nowhere near as fargone as China with its one-child policy, which is often an excuse for female infanticide. These things can be reversed, and our increasingly tech-oriented economy gives more parity to women and their skillsets, as compared to the old agricultural economy which placed higher value on the male child growing up to plough the fields.

Interestingly, I was in Jackson Heights a few weeks ago and I saw a guy who looks like the one in the link above, with a very pretty Indian woman. Actually, she was more than pretty. You should have seen how proud she was to walk hand-in-hand with this guy. It was like she hit the lotto or something.
You will always see a very beautiful Indian woman with a below-average gora, but you'll NEVER see a beautiful white woman with an ugly Indian guy. That would never happen in a zillion years. That's why I respect white people.

This is comical. The part about female foeticide is sad, though. But, instead of lashing out at "north Indians" as some people have done, one needs to understand the historical, societal conditioning that are causative factors for what may appear as "backward behaviour" to those unfamiliar with them. Historically, it is Northern India that has borne the brunt of Islamic barbarism, 1300 years of subjugation compared to 500/600 yeras in the Deccan and further South. Given the perverted Islamic targeting of infidel women and the
lack of robust defense mechanisms at the time; the girl child was considered a liabilty. Hence, the preference for boys.
Traditionally in Rajasthan, western UP, Haryana etc, Hindu weddings are conducted at per "Mahurat" at unearthly hours.
This was born out of historical necessity, i.e. Moslems would abduct Hindu brides if they came to know about weddings being conducted in broad daylight.
The same justification goes for "Purdah" and "Sati" which was actually derived from "Jauhar", wherein Rajput women would burn themselves alive before their male warriors rode out to battle the moslems; to protect chastity and honour from Muslim invaders. Why not consume poison you may ask?

This was a noble practice, regardless of what any missionary or gunga-din may have to say.
These practices are very uncommon in the present day, but can anyone deny that infidel women are unsafe in Muslim dominant areas?
Regarding Jats etc marrying southern brides, this is a positive thing. Hindu society needs to cast off all artificial barriers of Caste, Language, Region etc. Such marriages contribute towards a pan India Hindu unity. Therefore, I welcome them.
karyakarta, if any part of society is so perverted to kill the young Hindu women that God blesses them with, they are sick to the last degree, and you need every whip of the baton of law to cure them of their historical 'urges', if onlt to save Hindus from being killed. If Hindu society is so weak that it cannot protect its women without first being s scared of dead and gone Muslim invaders, then good luck to it.
Anyway, thankfully, that is certainly not the case. Female infacnticide/undesirability of female child happens in many parts of India, not just in the North. The way to get rid of them is a safer, more affluent society where people dont have to worry about more earning kids for the household, and where women can live and work without fear. This will itself reduce the negative attitude towards women.
Also the reason bengalis and biharis marry these infant killing gentlemen is because of their poverty. Do you think anyone will marry their relatives to them, knowing their reputation? Put yourself in their place and think.
And why does their historical 'urge' does not prevent them from marrying women from kerala and bihar. Afterall, wont they be exposed to the invader risk too?
Does their honor matter less than killed infants, or other 'urges' become stronger?
