maybe that maricha was smarter than i thought.
i have to withdraw my statement that maricha was a minor villain/magician and comparing him to jesus (who is as mythical as maricha and good at magic tricks). it's unfair to maricha.
have to think of another minor villain in the ramayana who has magician powers. actually any of the rakshasas would do, because they all were good magicians. maybe i'll borrow someone from the mahabharata, maybe ghatotkacha? no, he was a mighty warrior, we need someone truly minor.

Remember that the mythical yesu was not only allegedly good at magic tricks, but also was an illegitimate child born to a lady hailing from a long lineage of immoral women - according to some traditions of christian mythology.
If yesu had been born in the present day, he would most probably have been dismissed as the leader of a lunatic cult. In my opinion, it would be hard to find a corresponding figure in Hindu legend, even among the Raskshasas that would combine the attributes mentioned above.
The closest Indian person to yesu that I can imagine is Osho, who founded his cult based on sensual gratification.
In terms of plagiarism of Hindu principles - another cultist resembling yesu might be Deepak Chopra who preaches Hindu principles, without acknowledging their Hindu source!
