SABHA - 4M Report Arvind Kumar, 09 Sep 2007

Your regular dose of pseudosecularism

  1. Driveway smudge declared as Jesus image, sells for $1800

A smudge caused by driveway sealant that spilled on a slab of concrete fetched $1800 on eBay after it was listed as an image of Jesus.
But in America - only in America - can half a litre of errant driveway sealant magically transform into an unmistakeable sign of Christ, the Lord, Our Saviour and be flogged off on eBay for $1800.
    ...
The Serio family put the slab on concrete on that holiest of holy Internet auction sites for a week before "islandoffthecoast" jumped at the chance to reverse over the face of the Son of God daily for just $1800.

  2. Amartya Sen: Famines are caused when rich people eat!

Amartya Sen, the Nobel Prize winning quack, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for marrying Emma Rothschild of the powerful and influential Rothschild family explains the dynamics of supply and demand that cause famine.
Amartya Sen thinks that was not the cause. The cause, according to Sen, was that due to the war-efforts a lot of people in Bengal got a lot of money from the British. When they have started eating too much, those who have no such money were starved to death because of very high price of food.

  3. Times of India: End fight against terrorists

The Times of India, while reporting the speech of the Indian President Pratibha Patil, called the fight against terrorism a divisive tendency and claimed that Pratibha Patil wanted to end the fight against terrorists.
Sworn in as the country's first woman President with traditional pomp and grandeur, Pratibha Patil on Wednesday called for ending divisive tendencies like communalism and fighting terrorism.
What she actually said: "We must all stand united in the fight against such divisive and destructive tendencies as communalism, casteism, extremism and terrorism."

  4. Congress workers congratulate Sonia Maino for win in Presidential elections!

Soon after Pratibha Patil's win in the Presidential election, Congress Party workers congratulated Sonia Maino for the victory.
Hundreds of party workers -- the young and the old -- thronged Gandhi's residence shouting slogans, hailing her and the Congress party.

  5. US might strike in Pakistan

Every time the idea of an Indo-Iranian "peace" pipeline passing through Pakistan is touted, it seems to annoy the Americans.
The White House on Thursday refused to rule out striking at suspected terrorist targets inside Pakistan and would not say whether US forces would first seek permission from Islamabad.

  6. Hyderabad terror attacks: Islam declared a Religion of Peace!

In the wake of the recent terror attacks at Hyderabad, Islam has once again been declared a Religion of Peace.
The recent Bomb Blasts in Hyderabad City have yet again kicked up a debate linking blasts to a particular Community.
    ...
Islam is a religion of Peace, that puts highest respect on humanity and a persons fundamental right to life.
