his insights are not earth-shattering, but he does give some indication as to why the kaaangress is the way it is: short-termist because they don't know how long they will have the chair and so they have to steal as much as they can while they can.
that's true, of course, of all other politicians as well.
the special sauce the kaaangress adds is the tendency to fifth-column-hood for its own sake, not only because it makes money. this of course is exhibited in spades also by the communists.

Ths state of India is such that you can derive any number of classic case studies from it- game theory, bad leadership, what happens when people fight etc.. Most of these are self-evident, but it is not going to solve anything.
In my opinion, the cruel truth (again self evident) is that irrespective of all excuses, historical wrongs, justifiable grievances, 'beautiful' diversity- a country as to work together- there is just no alternative, otherwise things keep getting worse, justifiable grievances keep mounting up, and the vicious circle continues unabated.
The single biggest reason which I feel, though, is no one is bothered. Underneath all those hyper arguments, and 'desh ka kya hoga' platitudes, no one at all is actually bothered. There are so many people who will argue ad nausesum that everything is fine with the country, while at the same time fighting desperately to spend time or have their child abroad. There are so many people who say just for the sake of saying - what ulitimately matters to them is their breed is safe- whethere they are punjabi, bengali, kannadiga, or anyhwere else- their breed is beyond reproach. This 'phylum' feeling among Indians is stunning.
It is a simple case of cause and effect. why is the country like this- because people dont care. If enough people cared, things wouldnt be like this. So who are we really bothered about here?
