Your column

jul 25th, 2007

i have to admit this email made me feel good, although i am a believer
in the gita's maxim of "tulya nindau stutir mauni" (equally
indifferent to abuse, praise and silence).

if i am making a difference in the perspective of at least a few
people, and helping them to aspire to do more for something greater
than themselves -- that is to say, the nation -- then all the hassle
is worth it. i believe that india can be number 1, the best in the
world -- it was, for so long. we just lost our way.

but i do admit the 'ticket-collector' bit threw me :-)

thank you, v. (v is an investment banker).

yes, most of vijayan's works are available in translation by himself.
vijayan's english is fabulous, occasionally even better than his
original malayalam. he was an original, a genius. there is an omnibus
edition of his works from penguin india. his last, magisterial work,
'generations', is not translated: he was working on it when his health
failed. his first, 'the epic of khasak', was released worldwide in
translation by viking a few years ago to good reviews.

Dear Rajeev,

I read with great feeling your recent column on Rediff, especially the last
line on Mother India. Your words have power, my friend, and your columns
such as the ones enumerating the idea of 'Pax Indica' have stirred many a
heart. Keep it going. Maybe your role in Indian history will be similar to
that of the ticket collector who threw out Mahatma Gandhi from the
first-class railway compartment in the South African train. Let me explain.

It was perhaps that one singular instance that awakened the Mahatma in
Mohandas, who was till then an ordinary barrister. The resultant political
movement ended what you have described as Britain's trillion dollar loot of
India. That ticket collector perhaps caused billions of dollars of wealth
erosion for Britain by his act.

You, on the other hand. by awakening dormant Indians such as me, might just
inspire a handful of us to become the future tycoons of the globe which
might thereby create billions of dollars of wealth for the Mother. Your
contribution will therefore be similar: creating enormous wealth for India
-- something 'achieved' by that over-zealous ticket collector too !!

I talk of wealth, because that is the field I am associated with. Maybe
others will be inspired by the Pax Indica idea to go on to become
outstanding writers, doctors, et al. Who knows?

On a separate note, are you aware of English translations of Shri Vijayan's
novels?

Take care my friend, and thanks for preserving the annonymity as always,
especially as I use my office mail to write to you !

V

He said it better than I could; good analogy. You are raising awareness, that's first step in problem solving. Keep up the good work.

For all the praise by V, sadly your message doesn't seem to have reached him: he still seems to believe it was Gandhi that won India her freedom...

A lil off topic..
Tata's have actually bought of Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford

This is realllllllly huge for India's automotive industry and Tata's..in many ways this purchase affects the pysche of an average British than buying off Corus..

I share Mr V's thoughts completely.
The Hindu nationalist perspective is neglected in the mainstream Indian media. We are unrepresented in Government and Parliament, where the voices of the few articulate BJP MP's are throttled by the Lok Sabha's communist speaker Somnath Chatterjee & soon will be in the Rajya Sabha by the left leaning muslim, Hamid Ansari.

The election commission of India does not even allow the BJP to campaign on a Hindu nationalist platform, forcing it to withdraw campaign material etc.

There is a paucity of serious journalism in India, with few exceptions like "The Pioneer",
"The Organiser" in English & "Panchjanya" in Hindi which represent the Hindu viewpoint.

Websites like BharatVani, VODharma
etc are excellent sources of information, however these are not updated daily unlike this blog.

This blog is a wonderful forum for Hindu nationalism & hats off to Rajeev for his analyses; Ghostwriter, Kapidhwaja et al for
this blog. It is instrumental in disseminating truth & shaping opinion.

It's a pity that some christist disrupters cannot tolerate Hindu opinion, even on the blogosphere, on our own blog.
(this is just like the christist missionaries who insist on evangelising within/in the vicinity of Hindu Temples)

And, not to forget - all the readers who read & contribute.
Keep up the good work.
It is *our minimum duty*, to stay informed of 3M conspiracies & propaganda.

It takes some courage to even identify oneself as a Hindu nowadays, therefore my hat tip to you.

It’s good to exchange views with like-minded people on issues which are close to our heart. That’s what people keep doing on this blog. My question is how long do we go on doing like this? Is there any next step kind of thing? Move on to a higher level etc.?

Just talking about the issues is not enough. Of course, this is the easiest part.

If only we could know how we could do more without disrupting our lives!

Off-topic, but nevertheless a very burning issue: There is a piece of good news. US Congressmen are threatening to block the Indo-US Nuclear Deal. They think US has conceded to India more than what it should. The complete story is available here:

http://www.samachar.com/showurl.php?rurl=http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/US_Congressmen_threaten_to_block_N-deal/rssarticleshow/2236519.cms&news=US%20Congressmen%20threaten%20to%20block%20N-deal&pubDate=Fri+Jul+27+05%3A11%3A08+IST+2007&keyword=toi_home

If one looks at the clandestine way Manmohan et al. are behaving as regards the Nuclear Deal, I am sure that they have got a lot to hide. The leftists can’t be believed. The BJP are in a minority in the Parliament. The scientific community, represented by Kakodkar, may have been neutralized.

Our courts and the US Congressmen seem to be our only hope now. I have the gut feeling that the Deal will not go through.

@Srikanth,

I have been thinking along the same lines. I think even @karyakarta had posed a similiar question sometime back.
Can we do something more than just commenting and posting messages here (which of course we will do :-) )

Anybody interested here? I am not sure how many of the regulars here are in the US versus India

Lets see if we can come up with something interesting and worthwhile..

Thanks
Harish
