aug 5th, 2006

what else could it possibly be for?

oh, i get it, the chinese are planning to send lots of tourists to aksai chin, and so they are practising skiing there by trying it out in north china.

Defence: Satellite images show Aksai Chin terrain replicated, with
peaks, for possible troop exercises

.

NEW DELHI, AUGUST 4:The discovery of what is considered a military
establishment in China's Northern plains by a Google Earth user from
Germany has kicked up a storm on the Net's strategic forums. Here's
why: The establishment, snapped from Google's free satellite imagery
software, houses a startlingly accurate scale model of a highly
sensitive stretch of the disputed Sino-Indian border.

A careful study of the model, located at a large military complex in
China's Huangyangtan province, likely used for training and
familiarisation of troops, helicopters and infantry vehicles, shows
that it is built to scale based on a stretch 2,400 km away along the
Aksai Chin area bordering Ladakh, part of the stretch through which
invading Chinese forces entered in the 1962 war.

The facility, full with uncharacteristic and man-made snow peaks,
glacial lakes and snow rifts—ironically in the middle of an arid
plain—is flanked by a large military depot with buildings and at least
a hundred military trucks.

Tavleen Singh sometimes gets into the whole "India is not just nationalist Hindus " tripe - but of late has been calling it like it is.
Wish there were more such thinking in Spindian (Ex)press

Where is the need for old-fashioned troop-fronted invasion? We already have an Italian national running the country; China-funded party (CPM and CPI) and Saudi-funded Samajwadi party capturing the 'opposition spade'; Russia-funded mediamen planting ideas in gullible indian minds; and vatican-funded preachers doing whatever they like whereever; and to top it all, an American mole being quite close to the government (or perhaps, even running the government) to stop India's nuclear progress.

China is wasting its money and efforts on this archaic stuff. They should spend that instead on banning some more blogs and doing similar things.

I wonder whether it would be a good idea to support the trip of a few editors to this simulated border! They would never know the difference, and they would not bother to find out. A few bottles and a couple of girls later....they would be writing some hilarious edits. That would be fun. If the rape is inevitable, lie down and enjoy guys!!
