Email<http://indianexpress.com/story/11160._.html#> The
fine print of the laws Congress is passing shows how every aspect of India's
nuclear programme will exist solely at the pleasure of the US, says *Arun
Shourie* in the second part of his analysis of the nuclear deal

**While we are being treated to lullabies — that the agreement with the
US is all about nuclear energy — the laws that the US Congress is passing
are absolutely clear in the objectives for which the agreement is being
entered into.

• Section 2(5) of the Bill that the House of Representatives has passed
states that the objective is to bring within the ambit of NPT discipline
countries that haven't signed.

What a searing analysis!
Other commentators will tell you what is wrong in rhetorical terms. The thing I really admire about Shourie (and this aspect of his public writing has been true ever since I started reading is work) is that he will produce texts, citations, he will link and cross-link and build his case inch-by-inch.
A lot fo folks get turned off by his books because they tend to be long-winded - but I rather admire this aspect of the guy. They will criticise him , and if they are "Ambedkarists" (I will trade mark this one) they will even blacken his face - but they can never respond to the substance!
I think that the Nuclear Deal is dead - unless (as in the past) Duryodhana Singh and his gang are foolish enought to resuurect it.

KapiDhwaja,
Excellent news friend! I am not superstitious but even I will take this as providential sanction to do away with subservience to the accursed Yankee.

I must sound a sad note though. Given where the uranium deposits are located, our "Secularists" and Communists will soon be fighting about who to gift these to - Bangladesh or China? ... and while the fighting is on the Christist Missionaries will ship it all away to Graham Staines' Christian Fund in Australia!!!!
