november surprise

nov 13th, 2007

the communists are waffling about their opposition to the nuke deal. they indicate that they will not necessarily block it in parliament.

why, after comrade karat publicly said that he opposed the deal because he cared about china's interests?

two reasons:

1. they are embarrassed about nandigram, and manmohan is threatening to dismiss the communist government in west bengal because of the 'law and order situation'. communists with long memories will remember this is what happened in 1957 to EMS namburidipad's government when the christists (funded by the CIA) created a lot of noise and disruption.

but then, manmohan and the communists are in a co-dependency relationship, because the communists will never pull out (they will lose their unbelievably delicious situation of power without accountability); but manmohan wants so much to hang on to power that he's scared that the communists *may* pull the rug out from underneath him, however unlikely it is. therefore, the ongoing mating dance.

2. in her recent visit to china, sonia gandhi has agreed to give arunachal pradesh to china, along with innumerable other concessions. therefore the chinese are calling off their rottweilers (with initials PK, SY, NR etc.)

and therefore, we have the perfect outcome: india is a vassal to the US (via nuke deal), and india is a vassal to china (via the treaty signed in camera by sonia gandhi). and a lot of money has found its way into various numbered swiss accounts. god's in his heaven and all's well with the world. what more could you ask for?

Nice article by Bharat Karnad on the efforts to salvage the "deal" . Since the uncertainty surrounding it's "operationalisation" has been
a constant feature for a few months now, I'd like to think about another scenario, where all the negotiations with the IAEA and NSG are done informally and covertly, all the while putting up a facade of the UPA-Left coordination committee. The UPA remains in office until May, 2009 and the Bush administration until January, 2009. Would it be possible for the Kaangress to drag this on long enough until such time that any Communist withdrawal of support will be inconsequential
say October-November, 2008 and then suddenly "operationalise" the deal? The Yanks are definitely practical and realistic enough to
act on something that enhances their perceived national interests, even under a "lameduck"
Congress/Administration. The Kaangress won't mind Lok Sabha elections being preponed by a few months as opposed to 1.5 years! Notwithstanding the media's disinformation campaign, the BJP has been quite consistent in it's opposition to the deal ,
with it's position articulated well by Arun Shourie, Murli Manohar Joshi, L.K Advani. However, it would do well to pre-empt any loss of credibility by asking Brajesh Mishra & Sushma Swaraj to shut up.

I have a question: How true are the reports that Sonia has a secret agreement with Chinese about Arunachal Pradesh? Has any section of the press reported this?

Not quite, apparently for this Kaangress idiot who wants India to atone for the sin of signing the emasculating deal with the Americans - by prostituting the country to Mohammedans, because that is called "independent foreign policy" in Kaangress, Communist jargon. Tender Mohammedan sensitivities are offended, you see by India signing a charter of servitude to the US!!! Therefore, their hurt sentiments have to be pacified. Here's another Kaangress idiot
suggesting the same, by means of quotas for mohammedans. Only he is a fanatic christist kaangress idiot -hence, giving away what is not his to give, in order to pacify the allegedly offended mullahs who are angry with India for castrating it's nuclear deterrent with this Yankee embrace!!!
