It is because of Sardar Vallabhai Patel that over 300 Princely States merged to become what is India today. It was he who said the Somnath Temple should be rebuilt after Independence. Today-

Sardar was against taking the Kashmir issue to the United Nations. Now suppose GOI had allowed the Indian Army to regain the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir, the history of the last 63 years would have been very different.
From Sardar Patel I have learnt that brave and strong people do not have to shout from the roof top what they are. It is their karmas that speak! Born Vallabhai Patel it was his actions that got him the name 'Sardar' and then 'The Iron Man of India'.

If I am not mistaken, KM Munshi also played a key role in rebuilding Somnath.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting the link on Somnath Temple. It is s incredibly inspiring to see the indomitable spirit of Sanathana Dharma. I mistakenly thought that Somnath Temple had been permanently destroyed. Simply inspiring and amazing. Seeing this beautiful resplendent mandir put a smile on my face! Thank you for sharing.
