if in fact india is mapping china so closely, then it means china is -- as tarun khanna said years ago -- far more profligate with its spending than india is. of course this is only on export performance (although india one would expect to be doing much worse than china). i wonder how similar graphs for a) number of illiterates, b) amount of oil wasted through poor infrastrucuture c) number of world-class universities would look. surely china has a much better track record.
