amazing story: here's another gujral-clone, kuldeep nayyar-clone

june 9th, 2007

i read this story with interest, and it was singularly illuminating.

this man was nominally a hindu (or should i say a 'secular' 'progressive' born of unsuspecting hindu parents?) who liked mohammedans, and who was given the boot by mohammedans. he wanted to be in the pakistani army, but was told that as an infidel, he *had* to go to india! what poetic justice! he was zia-ul-haq's boss, but was kicked out to india! why didn't he convert, i wonder. but no, it's better to have a hindu name and attempt civilizational suicide. yeah!

maybe he didn't become a mohammedan because he was apparently more in love with the whites -- look at his words quoted here, about salamis, about job, a dicey character from the christist bible. the general was only indian by skin color.

people like this give me the creeps. talk of self-hatred! i dont know if the 'atlanticist' magazine is skewing his story to make him look like an idiot, which i wouldn't put past them.

re pakistan-love, this is the syndrome ('south-asianitis') that afflicts all those wagah candle-waving idiots who wah-wah at those silly urdu couplets and get misty-eyed over old lahore. this is the one context in which i wouldn't even mind if mu karunanidhi were part of india's foreign-policy apparatus, although in general i'd say the 'dravidians' have wrought enough havoc. those bloody urdu couplets would mean *absolutely* nothing to the redoubtable 'dravidian', and would not give him goose-bumps at all. he would retaliate with something ponderous from valluvar, or if he has a sense of humor, some light-hearted romantic stuff from the sangam era. since that's generally about romantic love of a man for a woman, the pakistanis wouldn't know what to say, considering that their opinions on women are pretty low (1/4 the value of a man according to hudood ordinances). so all indo-pak interactions should be held in chennai, in my opinion. to show the pakistanis that there are parts of india where their crap has no sentimental value whatsoever.

heck, i should be there in these meetings. i'm completely impervious to urdu, and in fact would retaliate by declaiming a few ringing stanzas by kumaran asan in malayalam, which would leave the pakistanis totally bemused; my point would be, "exactly the same as i feel about YOUR yammering".

OFF-TOPIC, in this context, i found it extremely amusing that shaukat aziz attempted to seduce condoleezza  rice -- did you guys read the news reports about that? he had promised to seduce her (or any woman) in 2 minutes, and apparently puffed up his chest, put on his best baritone, and proceeded to fix her with his best come-hither look! whereupon she probably thought, "beady-eyed doofus!", and thoroughly deflated his pakistani ego. apparently this alleged pakistani mohammedan charm works on all those white females -- robin raphel and barbara crossette leap to mind, perhaps they had fantasies of forbidden afghan delights relating to the latter's penchant for young boys. anyway it absolutely did not work on rice, perhaps because she's seen enough macho homeboys already and knows how to deal with them? this whole thing had me ROTFL, and it was reported in pakistani national newsapers.

I think this guy Gen.Rikhye was the elder brother of Ravi Rikhye, a confused military analyst, and military writer, formerly of India. Ravi, for reasons best known to him, started to come up with some very bizarre opinions and reports a few years back on the BR Forum. Unfortunately for him the BR Forum is run by some very well read experts who can take apart any cheap hack like Tom Clancy in minutes. And Ravi was soon toast and screaming "Momma!" I have met quite a few Israelis and Jewish-Americans who have made the - by now customary- Jewish high school graduate visit to India. Almost every one of them has visited Hampi, and is dismissive of that graveyard - the Taj Mahal. One of my friends asked me how we Indians can appreciate a monstrosity like the Taj built upon the cruelty inflicted on Mumtaz Mahal and the blood and lives of 1000s of slaves, and the money squandered from 1000s of peasants.

thanks for the info, truti, about the rikhye clan. what did ravi actually say that was taken apart by the bharat rakshak guys?

as for israelis, so many of them go to hampi that most of the small dhabas in the village have signs in hebrew! although i have also read that israelis coming to dharmsala ill-treat the locals, lording it over them, manhandling them, etc. and i think there is some merit to pn oak's thesis that the taj, contrary to legend, predates shah jahan. the circumstantial evidence, although the 'eminent historians' are very tight-lipped about it, is compelling that the taj was quite possibly a hindu temple/residential complex, not a mohammedan graveyard.
