political prisoners in cuba? going on hunger strike? no kidding!

jul 15th, 2010

from the propaganda, one would think cuba was a land of milk and honey, the comrades' promised land and paradise.

there are political prisoners there? amazing!

and they go on hunger strike? incredible!

look at the emaciated guy in the photo.

as much as i think the US embargo against cuba has been pig-headed and senseless, it is also true that cubans forgot, in their zeal to export 'revolution', to take care of their own. one of the best films i have seen recently about cuba is "memories of underdevelopment", a classic from 1969 or so, made by a comrade, but you can see how a once-gracious city, havana, is rotting away. must be like what happened to calcutta.
