Brahma, Subrahmanyam On Afghan Partition

Brahma Chellaney has come around to recognizing that Afghanistan needs to be partitioned.

Father of Bangladesh strategy, K Subrahmanyam feels the same way.

Hi all,
Our PM doesnt lose sleep....

Hope you have read about the attack on an Indian by his room mate in NY. The attacker said he hated Indians. And another incident in which an Indian student was attacked and badly hurt when he stopped his car and intervened when the gang of 'youth' were assaulting another Indian.
And the politicians are playing the usual blame game for the serious rail mishap in west Bengal.

Rajeev,

Just one small disagreement with Brahma Chellaney' article (quoting from the same)- "...could create stable, moderate, governable and ethnically more harmonious states"

Ethnically split into groups, hence governable to an extent(keeping various ethnic groups happy by giving nationhood to them- a la Uzbeks, Kyrghystan etcetra).

Moderate- no. Stable-no. The answer simply lies in the fact that Islam has quite effectively played the glue to hold warring ethnic groups together (to achieve strategic objectives); history is a testament to it and the present situation gives no reason to believe otherwise.

Whether this splintered nation actually helps India' strategic ends (although it could weaken Pak' ability to manipulate the region)needs to be seen. QED !
