i think it's inappropriate to call it 'gandhian', because it will be expropriated by sonia and rahul.

best to call it 'frugal engineering'. i agree that 'jugaad' (i had never heard this hindi-ism till last year) has negative connotations.

but great paper. obviously prahalad's last one for the HBR.
