Power implies responsibility, yet the US, in the inter-war period, sought an isolationist haven. If you'll notice the last 2 paragraphs of the story, it seems intended to play to a post-election US, urging them to reinforce military ties with Mother Europe. When it comes to Iraq, Afghanistan, War on Terror, etc, we're told that a US which plays military policeman is evil and warmongering. But now when it comes to Europe, we're being told that US playing military policeman is vital, essential, and important to prevent war.
It is by no means clear that greater American involvement in European affairs would have prevented WWII. But it is certain that America's decision to turn her back on Europe created a power vacuum that Hitler was able to exploit.
Once again, the brazen double-standards of the Atlanticists are bold, selfish and malicious.
