so far as i understand, the person who doggedly pursued the abhaya case for the last 16 years is one gentleman named jomon puthenpurackal. he was born a christist, so i presume he has been excommunicated, and that when he dies, the church will insist that he be buried in the "wicked tomb".
but just like the ex-christist ponkunnam varkey, whose short story "the beatified kochappi" i have mentioned here more than once, i guess jomon is a hero and a good human being.
now that the abhaya killers have been brought to book after 16 years of tampering with the evidence (including quietly burning her viscera, tearing out the post-mortem report from the files, changing the medical examiner's report of "semen found in genitals" to "no semen found in genitals"), it is time to dig up the similar cases of a clutch of other nuns -- presumably raped and murdered -- must be investigated. or is it the case that these christist women have no human rights?
how about the cases of sisters mercy, sofi, anjo, ansi, lisa? i suspect they were all raped and murdered.
c i issac's appropriately titled story about the 'dracula houses of kerala' is self-explanatory.
