Book Swamiji's killers as soon as possible, RSS tells Orissa Govt

Bhubaneswar: 22/10/08 (VISAKEO): The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Wednesday asked the Orissa Government to nab the killers of Swami Laxmananda Saraswati as soon as possible and stop illegal arrest of Hindu tribals in Kandhamal. RSS national joint general secretary, Madandasji said that the Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal has passed resolution on Kandhamal crisis at the recently concluded meeting in Visakhapatnam.

"Steps should be taken to book the culprits and conspirators, repressive measures employed by the police should be stopped and those arrested on flimsy and false charges must be released," the RSS leader said quoting the resolution while speaking at a Press Conference here.

He further said that the right to land ownership of the kandha tribe must be protected by appropriate laws. The amendment of 2002 to the Presidential Order on ST, which included Kui as tribe wrongly, be withdrawn since Kui is only a language spoken by the people of Kandhamal, he said adding a Central Legislation to ban religious conversion. Asked about the nun rape issue, Madandasji ridiculed the claim of the Christians and termed it as a conspiracy to divert attention from the main issue. "You could imagine from the reports of the State Forensic Science Laboratory," the Sangh leader said.

Apart from Kandhamal issue, the ABKM passed three other resolutions – on Islamic terrorism, on Bangladeshi infiltration in Assam and on the Amarnath Yatra Sangharsha Samiti. The RSS leader came down on those who questioned the September 19 police encounter in Delhi's Batla House, calling the doubts raised "an act of treason."

The resolution on Bangladeshi infiltration in Assam condemned the recent violence and burning of villages of people of Assamese origin by "the organised gang of Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators." Another resolution complimented the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti on the success of its agitation to restore to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board land allotment and management rights.

He also rejected the allegation made by Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over the Kandhamal violence.
"We have rejected the statements of Chief Minister, which saying VHP and Bajarang activists are creating communal tension in Kandhamal and these two outfit as fundamentalists he said while responding to reporters. The RSS functionary denied that the Bajrang Dal had spearheaded the violence in Orissa and Karnataka, and described the demand for a ban on the organization as political vendetta. "No Hindu group can sponsor or participate in terror," he said.
The Chief Minister had said that the Government arrested few leaders of Saffron outfits in connection with the communal clash. He later told to a private TV channel that both VHP and Bajarang Dal as fundamentalists outfits. Madandasji along with Sarasanghachalak KS Sudarshan earlier met Swami Jeevan Chaitanya here at PMG Square, where the seer is had sat on hunger strike demanding arrest of killers. "The Government is under pressure from Centre as it has already warned to impose article 356, so it is taking escape route and blaming others," he pointed out. "We have condemned the failure of the State Government," he said.

The Pranta Karyabaha Gopal Prasad Mohapatra and Akhila Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Manmohan Baidya were present at the press conference here with Sri Madan Das Devi.
