the godmen don't want you to know this stuff.
kindly note that the story of thomas the apostle arriving in kerala in 72 CE and converting seven nambudiri families is a complete fabrication. by the miracle of "truth by repeated assertion" it has now become a 'fact'. there are only three or four problems with the logic.
1. thomas did not set foot in india
2. there were no nambudiris in kerala at the time. on authority of ems nambudiripad, the state was entirely buddhist/jain at the time, and the nambudiris arrived circa 6th cent CE, whence the legend of mahabali and vamana
3. even if there were nambudiris in kerala at the time, they would have been nuts to give up their position at the top of the heap just based on some wandering barbarian's rantings
the first recorded arrival of christians in india was thomas of canaa, leading a group of refugees, who arrived in kodungalloor (muziris), kerala, circa 345 CE (just around the council of nicea, which suggests that they were fleeing persecution by the newly constituted official church). thomas of canaa was given some land by the king of kodungalloor. this is recorded in an inscription.
these knanayi christians, or syrian christians, lived completely unmolested, just like the jews of the area, as a small endogamous group until the 15th century CE, when the portuguese arrived as part of their conversion-at-gunpoint spree down the coasts, instigated by francis xavier. they prompty declared the knanayis to be heretics and persecuted them and forced their conversion, but some of them resisted (there is some legend associated with the koonan kuris, or bent cross in this regard -- it was a shibboleth of theirs).
it was the portuguese who then conflated the (true) story of thomas of canaa with the (mythical) story of thomas the apostle. they, of course, then proceeded to tear down the kapaliswara temple that had stood on the mylapore coast in chennai for a long time, and built the san thome cathedral on top of it, along with tearing down a jain temple on what is now called thomas mount. they also made up blood-curdling stories about the martyrdom of the alleged thomas. they 'found' thomas' skeleton near the kapaliswara temple which was their rationale for destroying it around 1565 CE.
the vatican on the contrary, has certified that thomas died in ortona, italy, and has certified his skeleton there. thus, you either have a total hoax, or you have a true miracle: the skeleton in mylapore is thomas' as a young man, and the skeleton in ortona is thomas' as an old man.

Thomaso ma jyotirgamaya!
the syrian xtians before they were persecuted by portuguese, a section of them went over to vasco da gama and pledged loyalty to him and asked for the destruction of Hindu kings to spread the "faith".
So the kerala xtians were the most ungrateful types and bit the hand that fed them.
Just like Assam, the media seems to have ignored temple destruction being carried out in Goa.
I happen to have few relatives in Goa and came to know from them that tomorrow is 'bandh' called protesting the various incidents of temple destruction in Goa taking place for last few days.

Really feel sad reading about the incidents and even more as media and politicians seem to have totally 'forgotten' majority people's faith and sentiments and are busy in minority appeasement!
true, we need more academic study and analysis of the impact of christianity in india. while christians tout the bringing of western systems of education and medicine in india as something that gives them the moral right to convert people, what they do not say that the british first systematically destroyed the existing systems. unfortunately with a marxists leaning media, it is hard to bring out the truth.
see 'expressions of christianity' that i described in a previous post: http://rajeev2004.blogspot.com/2008/04/absolutely-must-read-book-expressions.html
for india before the christists, read dharampal's books. they are all available on the net, but they are worth buying in hardbound editions from a press in goa, the other india press.
Good one Witan !

ems was a commie. whatever these jokers say about hindus or hindu history has to be taken with a massive dose of salt. if ems says their were no namboodris before 6th century ce, i'll bet my a*** they must have been their much before that.
In the commie idea of India's history, the brahmins or the hindus are always the oppresors or the coloninizers and the jains, buddhists, tribals, christians, muslims, marxixt etc, the sad victims or the brave liberators.
