let me count the ways...
1. i have no idea what he stands for. because he stands for everything and nothing. he's like ZELIG or BEING THERE; you see whatever you want to see in him. so, where's the beef? as doonesbury once said about edward kennedy, "we need a verb, senator", not just nouns and adjectives like hope and charity and whatnot
2. i find obama fans to be such close-minded people who cannot believe a reasonable person could fail to see that obama is well, god, that it appears to me to be a total cult, like the moonies with some elements of mass hysteria. with obama being the pied piper. the word demagogue also leaps to mind, and so do images of lemmings leaping over a cliff, and jim jones of guyana and the branch davidians of waco, tx
3. consider john kennedy, whom obama tries to emulate at every turn, and who was also similarly an unknown breaking new ground (ie being catholic). he was glamorous all right, but he almost blew up the world in the cuban missile crisis BECAUSE HE WAS SO SURE HE WAS RIGHT. groupthink, anyone?
4. exactly what is obama going to change? is he going to pull out of iraq and afghanistan and leave the mohdans with a huge morale boosting victory, with the likelihood that they will follow up with renewed jihad on a large scale? is he going to wave a magic wand and make the financial crisis go away? is he going to wave the same wand and make americans save and study and improve their competitiveness? is he going to fix the runaway cost of healthcare and make americans healthier? is he going to fix the problems of the world's and cure cancer as well? in reality, there's a huge systemic problem in the us which will take a while to fix and there's no point in pretending there's instant gratification
5. i still continue to be concerned about the possibility that he's a manchurian candidate. where's all the huge money coming from? how do we know it's not being managed by a clever set of sleeper cells belonging to the chinese or to the mohammedans? all these record donations -- are they really coming from real small-time individual donors or is it just made to look that way?
6. given the 'october surprise' economic meltdown we have been seeing, it is highly likely that the democrats will get a huge majority in both houses. if they have the president, the senate and the house of reps, they will probably go nuts with left-wing dogma. especially now that there has been a lot of right-wing dogma for 8 years, and it's been disastrous, the left-liberal types (incidentally, they are atlanticists who think just like the 'economist') will be running rampant. they will be so willing to suck up to china, so willing to bring in big government, that it wont be funny. there need to be checks and balances -- not one-party rule
7. when will the real obama step out from being the robotic, cool-as-cucumber, nothing bothers me personality? will that personality be as something we like? remember how he abandoned the preacher who had been his chum for 20 years? and of course, he had no idea the preacher was a racist maniac? yeah, right. and how easily he dropped him like a hot potato? is there anything more important than the personal aggrandizement of obama? is there anything or anybody that will not be sacrified for that great goal?
8. people who are so sure of themselves and who have supporters who are so sure of them scare me. remember ronald reagan? he was so cool, so unflappable, so sure of himself, and it is possible he created a lot of damage -- or a lot of his pals did. similarly nehru. so sure he was the cat's whiskers, and look at how he has created unbelievable havoc and basically destroyed a civilization.
no, i want someone who is a little more human, who may have their faults, who may be a little unsure of themselves. supreme confidence is a surefire recipe for disaster. wasn't it bernand shaw who said that the problem with the world is that the bad ones are sure of themselves, while the good ones are consumed with doubt, or something along those lines?
now i will admit that sarah palin does look a little odd, and i think the only good thing about her is that she's not bobby jindal. her evangelical ways are really bad news esp if mccain pops it. but then you don't choose a president based on that. i mean, obama is bad news period: he'll be into the atlanticist, looney-left liberal backlash thing like a ton of bricks, and with europe leading the way with dhimmitude, we don't need america also going down that path, singing kumbaya while the sino-mohammedan alliance takes over the world.

Brilliant assessment.
obama is overwhelmingly supported (including money etc) by lots of Ssivadhrohees from GODFORSAKEN india too. Including being handed over Hanuman icon by the same Ssivadhrohees ( ROTFL.. as Hanuman Himself is but the Very Lord Parameshwara Himself).
In Kurukshetra war , kauravas had overwhelming no of blahblahblahblah....NOT Paandavaas.
Yet , Ssivadhrohee duryodhanan knits his eyebrows & asks:
Why is it our side looks so APoorna......
In fact , well prior to this , jayathradha has muchhh more than all kauravas blahblah put together.Who are all effortlessly massacred with a Beatific Smile by Lord Krishna Himself. Sree Krishna purposely leaves jayathradha alive till the opportune moment.
Moral: It is HE who KILLS.He calls the SHOTS.HE chooses the Time etc etc.
Warning:
Slimy forktongued hadvani is quite chummy with amaino to zardari.kinganibrat is also quite llloved by rajnath singh etc etc.
cho who voluminously churns nonstop rererecyclings of OUR Vedic Scriptures.....well RAGE gives me rigor mortis.
Goddamned india is overpopulated by Ssivadhrohees.
Let us prepare ourselves to kooooondemn a lot of dastardly............
I reiterate it is NOT Musharraf & Dawood Ibrahim (God Bless Them !!!)who treat OUR Aadishankara Peetham & our Gods & Jnanis in egregiously cavalier manner.

Absolutely. Makes perfect sensse.
GODFORSAKEN india is so DEAD apathetic to OUR VEDIC Deekshithars' " arrest & harassment " but reports in detail on aaeeyymamalineeeeeeeee with her entire KHANdhaan clan " visiting " Thirupathi to Kaalahasthi slapping cheeks , doing arathi , yadayada....oh yeah "giving donationssss " to GOD((((((
Now normal & sane people of this world ought to understand ganggggrapes etc etc are ORDAINED by LORD KRISHNA HIMSELF. Period.
Posting below my own comments I wrote in another blog:
" Heard in Bhagavatha pravachana(m):
‘ Space is not something you create..it is always there; jettison and incinerate the junk…you reclaim space.
Similarly Peace is not something created. It is the most Natural state. Get rid of the wreckers of peace. Then live in peace.’
In India we have been hell bent on electing wreckers of peace."
SOS !
obama is a total NO NO as amartya sen too supports & praises all blahblah bilge about him.
Reposting my own comments elsewhere:
" While watching Hollywood’s ‘ No Country for Old Men ‘ , I felt…yes , no place for idiots & parasites (leftistscommunists) protectionismists …..take your pick in the Future unfolding.
Why ? That is the way it is :))
Also, Obama has a substantial protectionist lobby among his voting constituents. He seems to clearly tilt more towards a welfare state, and will likely invoke protectionist sentiments in support of that. I don't think he'll be good for international trade.
Rajeev,
I am surprised about your longstanding animus against Obama. Try as I might I see nothing rational about it. Let's see what could be those "reasons", he's from Harvard, you are from Stanford. Reasonable? Yes. He's a Law School Grad, you are an Engineer+MBA. what else is left then? I am not sure. Obama is by far the smartest candidate to run for President in the last >100 years, and stands in the same league as FDR, Johnson, and Clinton, everyone of whom did a lot of good for the US. He definitely has the vision of Ike as well.
Apart from your pet peeves, all your complaints are similar to the points of the current wave of hysteria being whipped by the McSame-McPain campaign. I can see why the Rethuglicans keep parroting that Obama is all hope and glory, because that party is the biggest sack of dullards this side of the Atlantic, and doesn't understand anything profound. But for a dharmic exponent such as yourself to miss Obama's pragmatism, his clean break with the past, and his clarity is hard to imagine. Or are you a another one of those PUMAs for Hillary?
I have no problems with what you have written. you are entitled to ur opinions based on facts, spurious facts, no-facts or simple paranoia of a sino-mohammedan surge. but i am amazed how someone with wee bit of common sense can read it and actually call it 'brilliant assessment'.
Rajeev
I think for some reasons you have started as against Obama, thinking of him as Muslim, and it is hard for you to change that stand.
I have read through his most of his policies, have listened to him extensively, I think so far he comes out as a good Leader.
I think thats the need of the hour, so far we have heard politicians at the helm, and its time we have leadership at that position.
Everyone has taken status quo granted, I think I see in him someone, who will question everything, surround him with the right folks, and make a difference.
We are believe that the US is a big consumer and so the NAFTA tilted to one side is right to everyone else, but thats what has lead to this huge dollar reserves everywhere. Its a huge crisis impending, and somehow the World has to find a way to dispose those dollars effectively? How? May be start importing from the US, and give them back their dollars. Naive? May be, but somewhere we have start, and no one is talking about a solution, rather everyone indicates that as a problem. Where is the start?
Its difficult to change, not too late to change. Go to polls and vote for him, thats a start.
truti, i have been gravely suspicious of obama for the last 2 years or so, and have seen nothing that makes me change my mind. i'm not a democrat or republican, so no question of being PUMA. i was once a member of the green party, but i think they kicked me out.
obama is lionized as the Great Leader based on... nothing. exactly as nehru was. i have seen the damage nehru has caused, and obama is likely to do the same thing, and obama is much smarter than nehru. empty charisma makes me queasy.
i can name a bunch of Great Leaders who will make you queasy too. mussolini. attila the hun. genghiz khan. robespierre.
obama is a shakespearean villain: lean and hungry. beware of such men. you want iago to run america?
sorry, wrong villain. i meant cassius, but i was thinking of iago for some reason.
Let me have men about me that are fat,
Sleek-headed men and such as sleep a-nights.
Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look,
He thinks too much; such men are dangerous.
Nizhal Yoddha ,
You are absolutely right.
Know something?
It is not Julius Caesar's tragedy at all. It is BRUTUS 's tragedy.
That J Caesar is power hungry is subtly conveyed by Shakespeare the *way* he acquisces to be crowned.(That is why Shakespeare is so evergreen ).
Brutus genuinely *feels* for the good of his country but lamentably trusts the beguiling cassca ( the bloodiest rent made by " envious " c yadayada) and the rest you know.
Meaning of each & every word is to be assimmilated to comprehend.
Nizhal,
You have been suspicious, or so you say. But why? You are suspicious. I tell you that he is smart, and you reply that he has got just charisma. That sounds like McSame's line all over again. I am not saying that all criticism of Obama is ill-informed or empty. There is plenty enough to disagree. Take the Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn line and one would dub both parties expansionist, questioning the very basis of the current economic and foreign policy. Much as one disagrees with Chomsky (he is an hypocritical nut) Zinn does have something going for him as at least he questions the motives of the leading players. Take the Counterpunch (Alex Cockburn) or Ralph Nader line, they offer points you can argue with, and the same for Bob Barr, Ron Paul and Cynthia McKinney.
As for leadership, I would rather have as little as possible and settle for better management. The very idea of leadership is non-empirical and a meaningless shell. I am happy that Obama is going to use his smarts to run the country (as he has so far with a brilliantly managed campaign) rather than mouth platitudes on "leadership" But if you would rather vote for a ticket with Palin on it, over Obama, after all your education and erudition I am at a loss to make sense of it.
>>how someone with wee bit of common sense can read it and actually call it 'brilliant assessment'<<
HAHAHAHA ....
because " commonsense is not so common "( V......E)
Nizha Yoddha ,
The thought of iago came because of slurdesiasprannoyroys etc etc & gorement of india!
