Steel industry says no incentives given to investment

KOLKATA:

The Union Finance Minister's announcement on export duty on iron ore has gladdened the steel industry which sees it as the first move by the Government to conserve the scarce national resource. Moosa Raza, President, Indian Steel Alliance, the industry apex body, said that the levy of Rs. 300 a tonne on export of iron ore and concentrates was a welcome first step towards reducing exports to zero level in the next five years.

Dear Mr. Moosa, please use all the low grade iron ore that is available in Goa in your steel making. Why are you guys fooling the people? You use only the best of best ore i.e. 65% and above lumps and reject all the rest and this is exactly the grade of ore on which export duty has been recommended by the Hoda committee so as to preserve it for your use. You do not use 95% of the ore that is being exported so what is your problem if it is sold.

Can you otherwise employ the over one lakh people that are directly or indirectly dependant on the iron ore industry in Goa?
